If this has only started recently, there is a way to get it back into '' old form ''.
With you're words, I can see you have downloaded a virus, without knowing about it, remember; we carefull what you download, think twice.
If this only happend recently do the follow:
1) Click on Start, at the bottom left to open the bar up.
2) Go into All Programs, to bring the bigger bar up.
3) Go then to Accessories, it might be near the top
4) Go into that, then at the bottom is System Tools
5) Go into that, then go to '' System Restore ''
Follow the instructions you can re-store your whole computer to an earlier date, so if you know your computer was fine on the first of this month, you're able to put it back to this:
All files / Programs that you have unistalled from the 2nd - Today will be there, so all you would have to do is uninstall again.
BEWARE: If you know the computer has been down ever since you got it i.e. new computer, get a refund.
If this doesn't work sorry, I dont know.

What you are describing could be caused by several different things, from an infection, to a hardware conflict, and failing adapter, a firewall misconfiuration, etc. We would need more information to really help you out, such as what you were doing when this first occured, how long ago it occured, what type of system you are using, whether you are using a router and whether it is wired or wireless, if the connection icon is missing from the notification area, and/or from the Network Connections Folder, etc.
If this occured today or yesterday, I would reccomend you first get back to where you can download utilities which can help find and solve the problem.
If you are unable to access the Internet from any Administrator account, then you will need to go into Safe Mode and attempt a few different tasks.
You could use Safe Mode with Networking to keep your Internet Connection, and there, download utilities you may need to fix the issue, and post the results in a forum which helps in these matters. This is not the best forum of fixing large issues.
The best we can do here is point you in the right directions, and get you to those who can spend a few days assisting you in fixing the issue(s).
Now, what you may need is a tool or program called, HijackThis, and a few others. There are a lot of fourms which deal with this utility/program, and a few related ones which are used to evaluate the issue, and then correct it. However, you will need to be able to download the programs, and then post the logs back to the forum after you do the scans. Do NOT touch anything in these tools until you are expressly instructed to do so, otherwise you may destroy your system and have to reformat and reinstall the OS.
Do you have another computer you can use? If so, it might be best to start with that one to make contact with a HijackThis forum. If not, well, you will have to do what you can with the Guest account and/or in Safe Mode.
Do you know how to get into Safe Mode? Here:
While booting, right after the first splash screen, which will be your computer manufacturers logo, begin tapping the F8 key gently and repeatibly, until you see a black screen with a list of options.
Using your arrow keys, go up or down until you highlight Safe Mode with Networking, and press Enter.
On the next screen you wil be directed to choose your OS, and as you probably have just the one, you can either press Enter or wait until it automatically goes to the next screen.
Now, you will see a lot of words and numbers scrolling down a black screen. This is normal so don't panic. It is only showing the most minimal drivers and settings which load into Safe Mode.
Finally, you come to a Welcome screen, which seems out of porportion to the other, with the icons larger and fuzzy. This is due to the graphics using a low resolution setting. Select either the System Administrator account or your normal Administrator account, it realy doesn't matter, unless you have a program downloaded to the desktop of your normal account, and need to access it in Safe Mode. It is too much to direct you to go to a folder and copy that from your accounts desktop folder and onto the System Administrators Desktop. So, if you need a particular program on your own desktop, choose that account. Put in the password if needed. If you do not use passwords, you should. This is something you can change later, but get into the habit of using passwords, and placing one on the System Admin account too, as it is simply unsafe to leave them open.
Now, when you enter Safe Mode, you are greeted with a large white information page, which offers the use of System Restore, or to enter the desktop of Safe Mode.
Unless you have a lot of experiance with fixing issues, I suggest you select to use System Restore, in order to get your system back to the ability to use your Internet Connection in Normal Mode.
After you select to use System Restore, you will be greeted with the System Resore Wizard. Select the option to take your system to an earlier time, or the words which say a simular thing, and do NOT select Set a manual Restore Point.
You are brought to the next page whre at the left is a calandar. Some dates are highlighted and some are not. The highlighted dates are the ones you can choose from. Now, it is important for you to select a date which is right before this error occured. Going to far in the past will undo changes you have made to your system, such as installed programs, and configuraiton changes. You will have to reinstall any software which is removed by this process, and redo any configuration changes which you need. Just be sure to get the advice froma HijackThis forum before redoing configuration changes or installing the programs because at this point you are unsure which caused your issue.
Now, once you select the date, click next, and next again, until you click Finish, and your system will reboot into Normal Mode. See if your Internet connection is back in your normal account. If it is, great, if not, then you will need to take your system to a reputible repair shop as this would require more assistance than anyone can give here, and you will NOT be able to access the Hijackthis forums wihtout an Internet connection with an Administrator account which allows for downloading the utilities needed, and uploading the logs from those utilities for review.
If you DO have your connection back, do a Google search for "HijackThis", and you will ger a results page which has many different fourms. Go into several of these forums and read the posts and find one you feel comfortable with.
Now, each of these forums will have a "getting started" sickly post. It may be called, "new members", or "read first", or something simular. This page will have the instructions you need to get started with the forum and Hijackthis utility.
You will need to register with the group of your choice, but it is simple and free.
Please note that the individuals who help out in these fourms are experts in the field and if you walked into their offices you would have to pay hundreds of dollars for the service they give for free in these forums. They are vollunteers, and so are doing this in their spare time and for free. Please keep this in mind when working with them, and understand you may have to wait a few hours or a day for a response to your issue.
Good luck and I hope you get this fixed very soon. It is horrid to lose your connection.
One last item: Do not just stop if System Resore works in getting your connection back. You do not know what caused the issue, and it can recur, but you have used the best Restore Point. While you may be able to use another, you don't want to waste the work you just did. Find the root cause and fix that, or you may find yourself right back in the same predicament.
