When you run P2P, share files, you are opening up yourself for trojans, spyware, adware, popups, keyloggers, rogue dialers, etc. etc.

Microsoft Windows firewall is not a real firewall, because you are only protected from incoming rogue packets. A true firewall protects from incoming rogue packets and protects your data from leaving your pc, without your permission.

Turn off the Microsoft Firewall, after you have download an excellent firewall to save. As you can only run one firewall

Zone Alarm free home for personal use, is excellent. I used for ten plus years and is 100% leak proof as I test at least once per week. http://www.zonealarm.com Look in home on their webpage and you will find the free version for download.

Download the free version of Superantispyware. I use this program and it will find what all other miss. Plus you will get daily auto updates. http://www.superantispyware.com

Bittorrent won't effect your popups. You might have spyware on your computer generating the pop-ups, so do a spyware scan. Also, it's possible the popups are coming through your Windows firewall since the Windows firewall is a disgrace to all firewalls. Get yourself a real firewall, that should stop them (although do the spyware scan if it doesn't stop), maybe try the free version of ZoneAlarm.

the adverts or spyware is already installed, not coming from the internet. get some scanners, and yes a good chance some file you got from torrent brought your little gift.
