Security - February 2007

Says page does not exist. I can reach it throught yahoo finance, and it is the correct page. I tried to reset it. I also can get into my account. I turned off pop up blocker, although it did not previously bother the home page. My password works. Dave asked this question, but it was no longer available

i have tried everything to try to remove this thing but i cant. norton tells me i still have it in my system.i tryed scanning it in safe mode and nothing comes up.i tryed avg,norton,and some spyware programs but still cant remove it.anyone please help me

I just installed the avg 7.5.441 version few days ago.It works just fine until recently I cannot update the antivirus.It says an error happened because the server name cannot be converted to IP address.I have tried some ways to fix this,such as checking my firewall,the update settings,and the faq on their website,but nothing works.Any idea how to fix this?Thanx a lot.

i use limewire pro for getting songs only because i know that you can easily get a virus by downloading programs from limewire.

I don't know alot about computers so bear with me. I downloaded spybot search and destroy. I scanned with it and it said Microsoft windows security internet explorer, microsoft internet security center firewall disabled. What does that mean? Does it think these are viruses? I'm afraid to delete it because I don't want it to erase my browser.

I just bought a wireless laptop that easily pick up wireless connection from nearby sources. As a matter of fact, I'm using my neighbor's (whom i dont know) his/her unsecured wireless internet connection. Now, Im confused if this a safe thing to do..Is it? I've read articles say it is unsafe for the internet connection source which in this case refers to my neighbor, but what about me? could i shop online in which i'll give my credit card number & etc...there's an encryption in those online stores...pls. help me. thanks to everyone. :-)

My Dell Inspiron 8600 was getting slower so I posted a question on this issue.
One of the answers I got was to run msconfig and disable all the option in the last startup.
I followed the instruction and the speed really improved but I noticed the Norton icons has dissapeared from the quick launch and I cant even start Norton internet security form the start menu.
I am wondering if Norton is still working in the Background or has it stopped completley.
I am worried!!

When I turn my computer on the hard drive runs for what seems to be an extremely long time (5-10 minutes) after the Yahoo home page is loaded and I am off on the web. I have spybot, adware and Norton running currently. What can I do to find out if there is a virus and if my computer is being used to send out spam?

I was induced with a virus, and fraudulent charges to my debit card by ifriends.net they are natorious for putting viruses in someone's computer. I feel it only reaonable to notify all the search engines on the internet about what is going on with these idiots.

Cannot access any folder - myfolders mycomputer, even folders on the desktop. I go to safe mode just to acces my docs. My internet prov said after having me run netstat - that the ip addresses that appeared and were not mine were the result of spyware. Also my laptop support said the same thing. I am desperate and need to resolve this w/o formatting my computer, please help.!!!

How can one delete safely their files and hard drive. Other than manually destroying the Hard Drive? I have heard on TV about Evidence Eliminator? Does it work if not how do you delete data? According to the news we as a nation rip up bank statements burn credit cards etc but often will just throw our computers on tips or give to sites without doing anything to our data. What can we do
