run a scan with trendmicro housecall it should get rid of most things
then if the problem presists try a scan with windows live which has a lot more than just virus and spyware scan, includes defragmenting youre drives and other tweaks. here is the site: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm click the full service scan
that should solve the problem: then after that i recomend geting spyware terminator for real time monitoring of spyware and also has HIPS http://www.spywareterminator.com/
if you don't have an antivirus i recomend avira anti-vir becasue of it's high detection rates compared to avg and avast http://www.free-av.com/

You could try backing up all your needed programs and files to floppies or cd's and to some disk clean up, disk defragmenting and then rung Adawarese, AVG Free, Norton, Mcafee, spybot and anything else you can think of. Your files are most likely corrupted by a virus no NOT spyware. I had the begginings of the same peoblem but I went ahead and backed up all my files, reformated my hard drive, then I went ahead and put eveything i needed back on there. You will most likely have to end up having to preform a whole system restore

You can try getting the other free spyware scanner, Ad-Aware. I have found that it is a bit better than Spybot. Also, if you really want to clean your PC, go get a spyware scanner called Prevx1. It isn't free, but you can get a fully fuctional 60-day trial version from their website. It is great...it will find everything.

Sounds like no spyware I've ever heard of.
Sure it's not a virus? Download Avast and do a scan. http://www.avast.com
