I just installed the avg 7.5.441 version few days ago.It works just fine until recently I cannot update the antivirus. It says an error happened because the server name cannot be converted to IP address.I have tried some ways to fix this, such as checking my firewall, the update settings, and the faq on their website, but nothing works.Any idea how to fix this?Thanx a lot.

Uninstall it, and reinstall, sometimes the free version has less priority for updates than the paid versions.. Good Luck

re-set up a clean version of the utility or do a equipment restoration on your laptop. if this would not restoration it then maybe the placing in avg is incorrect. additionally, in case you're at the back of a firewall this might reason issues too.

The definition of a DNS (Domain Naming Service) server is that it converts IP addresses to words humans can understand and remember. Example: www.yahoo.com resolved to 92.176.23.02
In short, you have a DNS server problem. Bottom line: Don't worry about it and try again later. You can not fix the DNS server.

I would uninstall AVG and then re-install it, it may just be an installation glitch.
