if i update my anti virus before scanning will it automatically removed the old viruses by just updating or i still need to scan to remove the old viruses incase there is, and what is your advice, scan first or update first then scan

My wireless router open to public, so my neighbours can share it which causes my internet speed slows down, so I am going to set a password for accessing to internet via my wireless router which brand is TRENDnet, following is the menu:
MIAN: HOST name:xxx IP Addres:xxxxc

my pc became such a pain in d a** since i let someone else use it.. its been working too slow.. it has been infested by adwares etc.. pop ups keep comin in even though i already downloaded blockers..

i would like to reformat my pc but i dont know how..

if reformatting is not an option, what else can i do.. im planning to buy anti virus program but will it solve my problem? what anti virus software can you recommend?

i was downloadin a movie through bitlord and i started gettin warning messages that my comp has been infected by trojans and worms even though i use avast couldnt stop it.. the virus just kept pourin..is it safe to use bitlord to download movies and videos??

The steps I took (but they failed are):
1-I went to the normal "start/settings/control panel/ad or remove"
option. From there I could not find the Yahoo messenger.
2-I then right clicked "Start" and "explore all users". From here, I
went to C drive/Program Files and STILL, could not find Yahoo
messenger. So, Where in the h...................ll is "yahoo messesnger" hiding on my computer? How can I UNINSTALL yahoo messenger? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Okay, so i have this gaming site and whatnot, and i had to ban someone for various reasons. The idiot is now planning to "get back at me" by sending me a few viruses. I found out from one of my friends who the idiot decided to tell (bad mistake because hes my friend and he told me everything and sent me all the PMs and stuff). Apparently his uncle is a crazy computer guy who can send just about any hack/virus whatever even without emails/downloads etc. The two virus/hacks he plans to send me is "expo5446.21" and "wipemax/zipy8.7.8" which one is supposed to cause spontaneus computer shutdowns, while the other wipes your computer and eats your cpu. I have no idea what to do, and i cant afford a new computer. And if i got a new computer, the sucker will do it again. I need help, because i have no idea how to protect my computer. All of the Spywear and Virus blockers are on, but apparently the guy knows how to work around those too. HELP!

I've been receiving very dirty e-mails for the past 2 years to my e-mail accounts by a person who seems to know a whole lot about me. He/she has also sent personal nasty e-mails aboutme to my friends and family. I have shut down my e-mail accounts and started new ones, and I still end up getting them there. he/she uses different accounts every time, and uses an IP bouncer, cannot trace where the mails are coming from. I have filed a police report, but they cant take action unless I receive a physical threat in person. Personal investigator too expensive. I am truly afraid by the content of these e-mails. How can I find this person?

its a long story but im supposed some music files emailed to me....i dont know if there is going to be a virus attached...when you get files on a yahoo email if says "no virus decteded" is there sitll a possibility that it could be? i know im being paranoid but i cant afford to have my computer crash....and if there is a virus is there a way yo get the files downloaded with out getting the virus?
