Okay, so i have this gaming site and whatnot, and i had to ban someone for various reasons. The idiot is now planning to "get back at me" by sending me a few viruses. I found out from one of my friends who the idiot decided to tell (bad mistake because hes my friend and he told me everything and sent me all the PMs and stuff). Apparently his uncle is a crazy computer guy who can send just about any hack/virus whatever even without emails/downloads etc. The two virus/hacks he plans to send me is "expo5446.21" and "wipemax/zipy8.7.8" which one is supposed to cause spontaneus computer shutdowns, while the other wipes your computer and eats your cpu. I have no idea what to do, and i cant afford a new computer. And if i got a new computer, the sucker will do it again. I need help, because i have no idea how to protect my computer. All of the Spywear and Virus blockers are on, but apparently the guy knows how to work around those too. HELP!

"But just think, he can't send you anything not through an eamil because he doesn't have your IP address"
Umm i beg to differ. He was a global mod on the forums.. which mean before he was banned he could have went into the admincp and grabbed my IP.. Apparently he threatened to hack me AFTER we had a go at eachother and BEFORE i banned him. So right now im just uberly confused. Plus, arent there hacking programs that can grab someones IP address?

Hi, first calm down, this guy is lying about these viruses and it is not as possible as he wants you to think that viruses can be sent without e-mail, IMs, PDF files, or downloading one. He is trying to scare the pants off of you and he is succeeding very well. Don't give him the satisfaction of knowing you are upset, concerned or scared by what he is threatening. Giving a reaction is the entire idea behind these types of mean spirited individuals behaviors. If you behave calm, collected, and non-responsive, he will not receive any satisfaction and will eventually stop this behavior towards you and turn to finding another victem who WILL provide him with the response he so deeply needs.
Now, with that said, I went to my own personal Internet Security Suites support website where there is a HUGE encycopedia with ALL currently known malware which includes every threat availabe that is out, and adds every single new one on a daily basis, and I did a search of this encyclopedia and it came up empty, which means these are NOT real viruses or any other forom of malware out right now.
These people made up these so called viruses names, probably just off the top of their heads, to frighten you and make you feel threatened and vulnerable. If you respond to them they win, it is as simple as that. They do not even need to actually send anything to your comptuer as scaring the pants off of you and making your life miserable is what they are attempting to do here, and that is how this guy is "getting even" with you. He KNEW the person he told this to is your friend and that that friend would relay this threat to you. By telling somebody who would give you this "news" he knew it would be told to you and he hopes to get results by it scaring you just like it has.
You can be alarmed, even scared, and worried, but do NOT, and I repeat do NOT let the friend who told you this know you feel these emotions! This "friend" who reported this to you will probably also report your reaction to what he has threatened and then he will feel satisfaction and feel he has won and gotten "even" with you. Please do NOT let that "friend" know you are so alarmed or scared!!
Now, what you can do to protect yourself is to make certain your Firewall is activated and your Virus solution up to date in updates of Virus Signatures. That is what the "antidote" to malware is referred to as, a "Signature". All of the Virus and other malware software solution providers share every single threat and all signatures created to combat those threats, so if a solution updates daily you are protected from any and all known threats.
It is true that every day new unknown threats are created and that some computers have to be infected before a Signature can be created to be added to the Signature Encyclopedia of each Security Provider. However, there are a few solutions which have what is called a "Hueristic" scan which my Panda solution has, and it scans for any and all weird or off behaviors in the OS and files and folders as well as the core componants and then grab that oddity, quarentene it, and then it is sent off to the labs for evaluation and if needed a Signature is created to combat it.
Not all solutions have this feature, but if you are in a direct threat situation I strongly suggest you obtain such software. However, you are in a catch 22 situation. What I mean is while you are in a state of emergency, it would be very unwise to remove your current solution and then install a new solution. In order to remove an Anti-Virus and Firewall software program, it is required to obtain what is referred to as a "special" removal tool from the manufacturer of the solution. This is due to how the solution must embed deeply into the OS in order to carry out its function of protecting the computer. Due to this embedding, the Windows XP Add/Remove applet is ineffectual in properly or completely removing these software programs.
It is bad for a system to have multiple instances of Firewalls or Anti-Virus in a system. If these are not fully remove, what is left behind will at the least interfer with the new solution and at worst will cause instability and even crashes of the OS. So, you see how important it is to really completely remove any current Security Solution before installing a different solution.
With that said, I encourage you to use your current Security software to continually scan for threats. I also encourage you to not download anthing from that website, only download from trusted sites you are sure he has no access to. In order for him to infect your system from a website not his own or any hosted site such as community sites like MySpace and those of that ilk, he would need to actually place code on others sites and into the instance of software you downloaded. that is near an impossibility so don't worry so much about such an action occurring. Also, do not open any unknown e-mail, not even to just read it, not just the attachment. People now can embed code in images and other items on HTML mail, so just opening it can cause a virus or other malware to invade your system. Be carefull even of e-mail from your friends for a while, as if he has their e-mail addresses he can send you an e-mail via their address and you would think it safe, as it was not from him. Also do not open any links in IMs for a while, not even from a friend.
After a while he will tire of this with you when you show no reaction, and he is not getting the results he wishes. Then in a month or so you can start looking around for a Security Solution which has a "Hueristic" scan such as the one in Panda. You can look at the Panda Internet Security Suite at:
http://www.pandasoftware.com
I am not telling you to buy this solution, just to start looking at more comprehensive ones which will protect you better.
Good luck, and remember, a reaction is what he is looking for the most. Deprive him of that and he will stop harrassing you and go look for other victems who WILL respond and give him what he is looking for. He is a bully and a coward, and you were obviously right to lock him out. Keep up your chin and don't panic and don't give any response to him, or to anyone who will relay any reaction of yours to him. If he has one already, just stop and then he will go away.
I wish you a very good day and weekend, take care. ;-)

He might try sending you a virus through email. But just think, he can't send you anything not through an eamil because he doesn't have your IP address. Your Ip address is the number for you internet connection that could be used to hack your computer, but he doesn't have that. So the only way he could do it, is through an email. So put his emial address inthe block list. And, since youhave a new computer, make sure you have a virus protection. Get Trendmicro, the best one right now, it blocks anything. It's less then $40, and it's worth it.
Hey if this doesn't satisfy you, i'm sure this will. I'm a computer technical working for geek squad and i'm very fimilair with virus's and hackers. The virus's that you named can not be send to you unless you have an updated virus protection. Not those free crapy ones that never work.
I just read your detailed >> your worried to much. Look, FBI has a section that scans a neighborhood every 1 Minute looking for hackers, it's just there job. Even your internet provider does that. If your computer is hacked, atumaticlly FBI will find him, $400.000 fine and/or 10 years in jail. If i were you, i would dare him to do it. And if he is really a hacker, then i'm sure his fimilair with what will happen to him.
I read your other detail >>> that's a BIG NOOO. didn't he said he was going to hack you, then......where is he. If you worried that much, just take yoru internet plug out of your PC.

Just don't download / open anything they send your or any email attachments for the time being. Unless his "uncle" is really skilled, which I doubt, he won't be able to infect you unless you open and run some sort of executable file.
Do you have a DVD burner or a spare hard drive? If so, get some good backup software. This will let you make a complete backup of your system while it's in good running order and then if something should ever happen, like you getting a virus, you just pop in a recovery CD and perform a "full restore". This will erase your hard drive and restore your system to normal condition, including any and all files!
A very good program that does this is Acronis TrueImage, available here with a 15-day free trial:
http://www.download.com/Acronis-True-Image-Home/3000-2242_4-10596480.html
Also, I'd contact the police and let them know about this. If and when they actually try something, you can have them arrested. Hang onto those chat logs, print them out!

I can help you. First of all stop going online before that person do something really bad with your computer. This will temporarily stop those attackers. Follow these steps to get rid of your problem.
Note :- All the software mentioned below should be downloaded by using ANOTHER computer. You can go to a cyber cafe or you can use your friend's computer. DO NOT USE THE INTERNET UNTIL YOU FINISH FOLLOWING ALL THE STEPS BELOW.
1. Uninstall all the existing security software.
2. Download Avast Home Edition and install it on your computer. Avast is one of the most powerful antivirus solutions available. The best thing is it's free.
Download it at:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
3. Download the latest update and install it.
Latest update is here.
http://www.avast.com/eng/update_avast_4_vps.html
3. Do a full system scan. Remove all the detected threats.
Now your computer is virus-free.
4. Download Spyware Terminator and install it. It's also free. It removes spyware (software used to spy on your computer).
Download it at:
http://www.spywareterminator.com/dnl/landing.aspx
Do a full system scan and remove all the detected threats.
5. Download AdAware SE Personal Edition and install it. It's free. It'll remove adware (which offers you unncessary advertisements).
Download it here:
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
5. Now we have to install the firewall. I can recommend Outpost Firewall Pro which is very strong and powerful. It's a paid software but still you can download a 15-day trial version of it.
Download it here.
http://www.agnitum.com/download/OutpostProInstall.exe
I highly recommend you to buy this software, since the firewall is the barrier between you and the outside world.
6. Install Outpost firewall and restart the computer.
7. Now log in to the Internet and update Avast, Spyware Terminator, AdAware and Outpost firewall.
8. Disconnect from the Internet as soon as you update is complete. Scan your computer again for viruses, spyware and adware.
9. Restart your computer.
Now you can safely surf the web. The people who tried to attack you, will have to stay away since you have the supreme protection against them. Make sure you update all the softwares regularly and do frequent system scans to stay protected.
All the best !!!

Don't worry, this guy probably doesnt even know a thing about computers. If you have a upto date anti-virus and ant-spyware program, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Most people like this are just trying to scare you. You can't just magically cause a virus to appear on a computer, you have to download it, or have it recieved by some method. So I wouldn't let this kid scare you. He is probably purposely was talking to someone he knew would warn you, so you would get scared.

Sounds to me like this guy's blowing smoke. You could call your ISP and ask themwhat to do if someone threatens you in that way. It's against the law to do that(knowingly infect a computer),and if you could prove it you could make him pay for the damage. If you've got a firewall activated and don't open any unknown emails or links you should be fine. So let this wannabe know you've informed your ISP and they are monitoring the situation and any criminal activity he does to you or your system he will be held legally/finacially accountable for. Maybe your ISP can tell you more you can do.

Neither of those viruses seem to exist. Back up your hard drive, do not use your admin account for routine use, make sure your firewall is up, and check your logs.
And tell him to continue to pound sand.
