Security - December 2006

I got an e-mail sent by "darianasty@yahoo.com" ( subject "bill" and message "Important bill!!!" ) that contained a virus attached as "bill.zip". ... I clicked on it but the scan report said virus, so i didn't download it. The only thing i did was to spam it and empty trash. My question is: where do you report those e-mails? ... do you actually report them or just delete them? Suggestions...? Thank you

Can I trust email from www.freelotto.com? The sender is not frelotto@yahoo.com or any similar ordinary email, but coming from coordinator@freelotto.com . I can see the difference from the spam winning notification from ...............(whoever)@yahoo.com or .............(whoever)@gmail.com. The www.freelotto.com looks more real lotto to me. And the next question is...when they ask me to validate by entering my creditcard number and CVV number, is it safe enough for me to follow?

A shortcut icon has just installed itself on my desktop. It's called hurl.exe. I think it's probably OK, as I seem to remember clicking OK to install something of that name and I haven't been in any dodgy websites. But can anyone tell me what it is and whether it is sinister or harmless. I would also appreciate advice on how to remove not just the shortcut link but the thing itself. (Sorry to use the technical term 'thing', but I don't know what its proper name is!)

and there are lots of pop ups that says my compu is infected wid trojan & adware.i hav avg & spydoctor but stil der r pop ups.my compu isn't slowing down like the pop up says. it's just that it's very irritating to have pop ups every now and then.

there is one PC in my office and we try to change the network ID for this PC..when we try to copy all the documents in the original folder..suprisingly the folder are empty and all document were gone..at last we found the original document in the temp folder.. after we copy all the documents into the new file..another problem occur..all the files are corrupt..not even one file can be open..is it because of virus attack or what? what should we do to prevent this to happen again?

I think most people know it when they see a SPAM e mail! Doesnt anyone actually reply which makes the SPAMMERS effort worthwhile? I cant believe many people do these days . How much money are the SPAMMERS making? some SPAMS dont even sell anything!

Every time I've booted up since about 10pm yesterday, EST, you guys are apparentlly installing Spyware Doctor in relation to your Beta Test of yahoo! mail. STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I a went to HUGE expense in the last week to have my computer repair, and you are KILLING IT!!! Suddenly I am having MAJOR connectivity issues, major connectivity issues, and am receiving a multitude of messages concerning connectivity, "THIS PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED" and something about an error 10 in Spyware Doctor, and there is a new Spyware Doctor icon on my desktop that was never there before. STOP, STOP, STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!

About every month all of my history disappears, not only from the I.E list but also from my recent documents, this has only been happening for about 3 months now, so have I clicked something with out knowing or is it another Microsoft download that is controling my computer ? I had a trial version of Noton antivirus 2006.I then got Norton antivirus 2005(1 year subscription).(I then removed the old Norton antivirus)When I open the main page of the new antivirus, the renewal date comes as 3/3/2007. But when try to update my virus definition it shows that my subscription has ended on 17/11/2006 (my trial version's subscription had ended on this date).How can I solve this problem and update my Antivirus.

THIS IS URGENT .MY COMPUTER HAS ALREADY BEEN AFFECTED BY SOME VIRUS AND THE NON-UPDATED ANTIVIRUS IS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE VIRUS.

My pc has turned out not to access all my program files & a message appers saying that windows can't access the specified device. I have tried to scan it via AVG antivirus and figured out it was infected with trojan horse....... but either AVG or others cannot clean it. I need help from you.

I have tried to boot my pc in a safe moode but cannot even restore the system and it appeared that i don't have access of the control panale while i logged as an adminstrator..................... help is really apreciated.

P.s I can not even run and install any antivirus and don't know what to do ............. I really need your help

My kids got me computer..must have done a 90 day trial..was out of town --today my computer said these four things expired 4 days ago.

McAfee SpamKiller,
McAfee Privacy Service
McAfee Personal Firewall Plus
McAfee VirusScan

It show my antiabuse and antispam killer as red (antivirus index and antihacker index still are green)

Virus span and personal firewall plus are still protected, while privacy service and spamkiller are expired.

Are there any free comparable protections out there..also to reinstate all, how much is it..is it $29.95 for each one or for all of them?

If you give a free program, do you have link for download..is it permantly free or temporary?

Please help.

i allowed someone to use my computer and it seems that they visited pornographic websites. Anyways when i got on my computer this afternoon i window popped up saying that i had visited or watched pornographic sites or content. It said that i had to clean out my computer the thing is i don't have the money to pay for a cleaning software so i was wondering if there was anything else i could do to clean out my laptop.

When I am signed in to the internet the following message pops up (the insturction at oxoo151368 refrenced memoory at 0x07030e8bc the memory could not be "read") then it gives me 2 options cancle or close, and it would knock me off the internet.
