If I decide to install it, what must I do to prepare to do so? I am new at this. My computer has WinXP, Exp 7. Norton is featured but this is a used computer (cleaned out) but new to me and I don't know if I need to disinstall anything first.

My computer will only load up one or two web addresses. With anything else it looks as if it's going to but then it directs me to dodgy porn sites.
I've tried running scans but don't know how to fix it.
Please help!

After the original license expired on macafee security package on a relatives computer a spyware infection was detected. We then proceeded to install a new bt broadband upgrade with norton security. As far as we are aware we uninstalled the original macafee security software. However after a full norton security scan removed some viruses and a spyware infection we still have a notification that a spyware infection is still present. This is showing in a pop up in the bottom right menu bar marked by the icon with a white cross in a red circle. The norton security status is showing as good. If you click on the icon/popup it disappears then comes back later but does not give any more information. Can anyone help?

I'm thinking of changing my computer but have heard that it is not enough to erase programmes as the next owner can find all my private information. so how do I wipe all the programmes off it and leave with a clean sheet. Or would it be safer to take a sledge hammer to it?

I keep getting message that I need to download new BTYahoo Browser. In order to do so I have to remove my own Norton Internet Security 2006. If I just disable it to allow new browser to download as the new browser contains Nortin Anti Virus it will conflict with my Norton Internet Security. My Norton Internet Security is better than BTYahoo's so I prefer to keep it. Problem is the new BT browser will not install unless I remove it. If I just disable it to allow the download Norton have infomed me that it will conflict. I have tried to get advise from BTYahoo but they just dont seem to understand and have been no help whatsoever. It does not make sense to have to remove a better version of Norton but I am having problems with my browser which is why I need the new one.

I ask this because for example, some people save data in a zip file with password but everybody knows that is easily hackable.

Answer are appreciated and open to any OS, any encryption and authentication system, etc.

Thanks in advance.

My Labtop is only 1 and a half years old. I got spyware on and got rid of it during the summer using Windows Defender. It was okay from then, but the problems got worse since the start of the school year. My computer started freezing. One day it will be slow, and would freeze, and the other it runs normally. On the days that it freezes and is slow, the computer won't shut down. A RUNDLL error pops up, and when it comes off, the desktop background will just stay on the screen. You can still move around the mouse arrow, but there is no way to shut down normally, because the background and the pointer(mouse arrow) in the only thing on the screen. The only way to shut it down is to hold down the button that shuts down the labtop. I scanned the computer for spyware using Windows Defender yesterday, and it says that no spyware is found. Please someone help!!!!!

I'm wanting to buy some things on eBay and I've never purchased anything from that source before. Personal testimonies or a rating from 1 (bad) - 10 (great) would be nice too. Thanks!
