My Labtop is only 1 and a half years old. I got spyware on and got rid of it during the summer using Windows Defender. It was okay from then, but the problems got worse since the start of the school year. My computer started freezing. One day it will be slow, and would freeze, and the other it runs normally. On the days that it freezes and is slow, the computer won't shut down. A RUNDLL error pops up, and when it comes off, the desktop background will just stay on the screen. You can still move around the mouse arrow, but there is no way to shut down normally, because the background and the pointer(mouse arrow) in the only thing on the screen. The only way to shut it down is to hold down the button that shuts down the labtop. I scanned the computer for spyware using Windows Defender yesterday, and it says that no spyware is found. Please someone help!!!!!

I've had this problem happen to me before too! Let me ask you--is Windows Defender the only spyware program you use? If so, you may want to try and download a (at least one) additional program--like Ad-Ware SE or some other good ones like it. Sometimes, some adware/spyware programs may not always detect anything wrong, but you may run another one and it'll find multiply problems!! (I know b/c it happened to me!)

Another thing you may want to think about is running a virus scan--I hate to say it, but it could also be possible that your computer could have a hidden virus or worm on it.

I know my answer may be long-winded, but hopefully it'll help a little! Good Luck :)

try using
Spybot - download at this site: http://www.tucows.com/preview/310138

and

Adaware - download at this site: http://www.tucows.com/preview/236049

you might also want to try System Restore
- click Start - All programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
once the window pops up - click on a date prior to when all that stuff was downloaded to your computer (pre-summer)
then follow the on-screen instructions

Why don't you go to start, accessories and open system restore and restore your system back to your last good program load. Or you can at startup keep clicking on the F8 until you get into a safe mode and perform a last good system restore point.

Go here > http://www.tune-up.com/info/lp/tuneup-utilities/?ap=1646 < and download their free trial program. Familiarize yourself with it and use it to clean up you registry and other things automatically. And when you are finished with it do a thorough clean up of your system by removing any and all Internet temp files, cookies, history and cache junk files; then do a check disc and a defrg., restart your computer and see how it behaves.

good luck

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

Do you have a restore point back before any problems? If not try a registry repair program. I use http://www.registryrepair.net/
