Security - November 2006

I just put my new computer online and downloaded avg syware and antivirus, I also have ada-ware and spy-bot insalled but I keep getting notices that my computer is infected eventhough I have used all programs and scanned repeatedly. Is there anything else I can do. Also with every warning the same anti virus or spyware programs keep coming up and I am wondering if those sofhtware manufacurers have the virus in there to get you to buy the program.

I can stop them by system restore but they come back after a few days.

First i would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who helped with my problem, everything fine now, and i have got some great free downloads for security from advice given on answers, just got one question, i have got AVAST and McAfee do these conflict or is it safe, when running avast scanner the results came up as cant scan mcafee because archive password protected, do i need to worry about this, or can anyone give me some advice if i need to totally remove mcafee or can i just leave it there. thanks!

I currently have McAfee. Should I stay with them, or is there a better one out there. I have heard McAfee slows your computer down, but it does not on mine as I have bought a new faster computer with dual core processor.

it shuts down and flicks on sleep mode and then opens up auto i ran a virus check and nothing came up any free downloads that i could use all the ones i try you download and then have to pay to use it

some of my windows pages while opening the folders.and some of my internet pages get closed automatically with opening them,Is this a virus???
also in whole of my computer drives there are automatically created folders.called New folder which contain the same folders which are in my document.(this one is a virus for sure)
Are they related to a one virus?anybody falimar with these signs?

i used norton antivirus 2005 now..but my computer still receive viruses...when i play some online game after 5 to 10 minutes it will jump out and said running error..and there is a message always come out say that ur computer is infected!SO i wan to format my computer now...any suggestion on best antivirus?and if i format it...i need to on9 to download the program....at that moment will i get viruses? how? pls teach me....thx a lot

Okay ill try and decribe it to you, i hope you can help me;

--Whenever i load up my computer, it takes much longer than it used to.

I have just purchased a new laptop and norton internet security 2007 which comes with free save and restore disk, i think i have loaded the internet security succesfully and only partially managed to laod the save and restore before i had to log off. Now when i try to load save and restore it says it cannot read from the disk. The disks didn't come with many instructions which isn't very helpful, all i no how to do is install it and its not letting me, Is it safe to use the internet on my new laptop (sony vaio) and how can i tell all the security stuff has loaded correctly. I have registered with Norton but cannot find any additional information on there website! what exactly does save and restore do... also with the internet security how can i tell the status of all the componanants, see see if virus blocker and firewall are functioning correctly.... please help me, i am really unsure what to do and dont want my new laptop to break!!! please please please.... thank you!

i have tryed going into the program files and deleting it that way but it will not let me delete it, i have tryed to contact popcorn.net but are unable to because i am not a member (it costs £30!) when i go to add/remove programs it redirects me to the site so i am stuck in a circle. please help!!
