First of all, I'd take that bet. I'm sure you have hundreds of problems in your software that you're not aware of, that is of course, unless you're a specialist in that particular field. We now have Trojans, Varients, Browser Hijackers, Keyloggers, Email Worms, etc., and there are about 500 new ones started every day, 7 days a week. We have problems daily with the devices that are built into the motherboard, audio, video, etc., and I'll assume that Windows can see the problem, therefore sending you that message. By following through on the messege, you should be able to find out which device is having the conflict or which files are having problems. It's apparently needing to refresh the drivers for a particular device. Try following through with the message and let me know what you find out and I'll help you with it, step by step until the problem is solved. I do it for a living so I dont mind at all. ok, looks like everyone else is going to say that it is not a virus, but I think if you did nothing to prompt the new dialog, I would definately look for a virus/trojan/worm on your computer. One of the best products I found is the Anti-SpyWare from WebRoot, finds all sorts of stuff and does it well. Check to see if there is a free download, then give it a try.

Try this, and then maybe post another question...

Right-Click on "My Computer" and click "Properties"
Then go to "Hardware - Device Manager"

Are there any yellow question marks next to anything?
Post the details.

If there are no yellow question marks, you may have a "Bug" or a virus (Actualy NOT the same thing)

not a virus you might have set the computoer to check each reboot
if it is an old computor and the hardware mich be waring out this may cause it to make it keep thinking it is a virus

No. You've got a hardware driver that isn't working properly and Windows has to reinstall it every time you boot.
