myspace has lots of security tools to make sure anyone underage is listed underage and also so you cast look at the page unless you have been added as a freind. I am only 19 and have no kids but if i was a parent with this problem i would just make my own myspace page and be added as my childs friend so i could see what she was posting, who shes talking to to , and who she adds. All you need to do is make sure to talk to her about online dangers and just watch and make sure shes safe.

Congratulations! It is a challenge and privilege to be a parent of a teenager. I think the best approach will be to talk to her about all the risks: like giving away private information address, school (even the name of the school team can give the predator a clue) and then let her have the page. My space is about self expression. Yes it is a teenage hangout and gets a bit out of control at times but that's how our kids learn social skills and contrary to popular belief I think the Internet is the safest and best place to do so. Let her express herself. Teach her about the dangers.

It's safe enough; but your best bet is to just be a good parent and check up on her from time to time. Make your own account, so you can check her page. Also, I'd tell her that it's ok as long as she's open about it, and doesn't mind you being nosy; the moment she gets defensive about it, take away her myspace rights. As long as she knows it's a privilege, then I don't see it being a problem.

That's just my opinion though; I sure as hell don't know how to be the perfect parent, so take it with a grain of salt.

I am goona say no, but if you must give her the freedom (which I understand) then download WIN-SPY. It is a program that runs off the desktop and records everything that happens while she is on. It also takes a screenshot every ten seconds so you can actually see the site.

go to Downloads.com
Search for the WIN-SPY program and install it.
Then giver the freedom of an account and monitor for the first month, if she does well then turn off the spy program and give her your trust.

I don't have kids, so I'm certainly no expert here. But I would say that if you talk to her about it - what's safe to post and what she should keep to herself - she should be ok. MySpace even has safety tips for parents http://www.myspace.com/Modules/Common/Pages/SafetyTips.aspx that might be helpful to you.

you may not approve of what she posts or the friends she has on the page, but what do you think could happen to her that couldn't happen if she didn't have a myspace page?

people fear what they don't know. so, my suggestion to you is...why don't you educate yourself about myspace. maybe that will put your mind at ease....or confirm your fears and cause you to not let her have one in the end.

well actually it can be!?! but also it can open a window in you life which should be closed.. as a parent you should allow her to enjoy the real world but you should never forget you can close the door and throw away that key once the real world is all she knows

no it really is'nt because you must be 16 or older to have a myspace which means your child lied about her age and made a myspace. you should view her myspace and see if there is any pictures of her you wouldn't aprove of.

Yes but you make one too, have her add you as a friend and you can monitor what she posts, pics, etc.
