Security - November 2006

This occurred just yesterday. My OS is Windows XP. I have both Norton Internet Security 2005 and Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal installed and have used them but them seem unable to find the virus. I tried installing XOFTSPY 4.22 which found sevral Trojans and successfully removed them. However one keeps reappearing even after XOFTSPY claims it removed it. The details it gives are:

Vendor - Encodec
Type - Registry Value
Category - Trojan
Object - software\microsoft \windows\currentversion \policies\explorer\n
Danger - Severe Risk

Note: I intentionally put those two spaces in the object above (one after "microsoft" and one after "version") because otherwise Y!A abbreviates the whole thing, leaving some of it out.

When im on the computer a pop up called "Target Saver" pops up and other random stuff. I have the Norton Virus scanner and use the Yahoo ANti Spy once in a while....how can i clean this up?

i have a problem to open my emails so somebody advised me to settings my firewalls and my internet restriction because there is something to block my mail so somebody knows how to unblock the settings for firewall i need help i just put my security settings to medium because was at medium high and was one reason also that block me to get into my email.

All these mails are from people who are frauds, how to catch them, is there a central agency to whom such mails can be forwarded, the mails seem to be originating either from Nigeria or by Nigerian nationals

I keep getting this oinaserver popup, registry cleaner popup and drivecleaner popups. I have run adaware, spybot I have 3 dfferent popup blockers installed and still I am getting them. There is something hiding on my puter that theses programs are not finding and deleting. Help..

I'm running a compaq, with windows xp with sevice pack 2, also roll-up 2. widows defener won't let me quarintine it, it won't even ignore it when I set it to ignore it. And before you say, use add-remove program, I've checked and it's not in there.

My friend, he got hacked twice in the last week, i asked him and he's sure that he installed no auto-miner or swiftswitch programs that might have keyloggers...

I decided to let go of my Norton Internet Security package because it took so long for my computer to start up and because it was generally slow with this memory hog running. I chose The Shield Antivirus 2006 (PCSecurityShield) specifically because it comes out on top of reviewers choice and because their customers love that it's so light on memory. It's installed in two parts: the firewall and the antivirus. With just the firewall running my computer is lightning fast even on the internet. But, once the antivirus is loaded it is as slow as a snail. Their tech support is working on a solution but I'm not hopeful they will be helpful. I don't want want to run my computer with only the firewall. Has anyone else experienced this? I'll tell you this: (1) msconfig startup is running a minimum number of files, (2) a scan turned up no viruses and no spyware, and (3) I'd rather resolve the issue with the current software than blindly get another. Please provide recommendations!
