Use a antivirus program like norton internet security and do updates, that way the probability of getting infected will be low. If you are infected, use the same program to search for infected files. Usually the souce is Internet and e-mail, but do a scan on old disk you may have to make sure.

If you mean you have been infected, Use a Anti-Virus program like Bitdefender.
