and I'm getting a new one. i figured that since I've been wanting to upgrade the system for a while now, that I should buy a better board now rather than an exact replacement. I have a Dell system (if it makes any difference) and I was wondering if 1). I can use a non-Dell board with it, and 2) If so, any reccomendations?

PS: I AM sure that it's the mother board, not the power supply (people always ask, "Are you sure it's not the power supply?"

I'm installing an Athlon 3200 processor into a PC that ran an Athlon 2400. I know for a fact a 3200 will run.
What I don't know is will I have to make any adjustments to the BIOS, or will the system just plug and play?

I have recently purchased a ASUS P5K Motherboard which has ATI Crossfire technology. But I have purchased a Nvidia 8800GTS 320Mb graphics card because of its performance & value over an ATI offering.I am on the verge of getting my hands on another 8800GTS 320Mb card for a steal(My friend is upgrading to a 8800GTX,so he is selling his GTS).I would like to buy his card but I am not sure if my MB will support SLI.Is there anyway to run 2 Nvidia cards in SLI mode on a Crossfire Motherboard. If it is possible then can anyone please tell the procedure to go about doing so.Thanx in advance..

is overloocking a intel core 2 duo (2.0 GHz) bad for the prossesser? will it lower its life span, or make it heat up to much? does it make a diffrence if its in a laptop or a desktop? come to think of it, what does overclocking even do?

I've looked around the web and haven't been able to understand if there is any difference between a PCI slot and a PCI.2. I ask this because my sound card doesn't work with Windows Vista and I've found a card that's compatible but I'm not sure if it will work in my slot, which is just a regular PCI slot. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

recently i bought an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ with his motherboard ASUS M2NPV-VM with 512 of ram ddr2 bus of 667mhz ....

I use the computer for video editing and i notice that at the moment when i render the video it only use the 50% of the processor using both cores....

i check the temperature:
when the computer is idle it maintains at 25C...
When the computer it is working usign the 50% climbs to 38C or 43C
Which is the normal temperature of an AMD prossesor??

it is true that overclocking it will reduce the time that the prosessor will be operational??.
The motherboard accepts overclocking at 10% i havent activated.. is there any risks??

is there benefits using windows 64bits??

thanks!!!

I just got the Dell C521. It has a 285W Power supply. Well I just got a 300W Chaintech 7300GS Video card. On the Dell Forum's they say that 300W cards work because Dell rates their power differently then other companies, its a safety measure on their part. What do you all think?
