Hi kissypoo, defragging will not restore a corrupted file. The defragment function does not repair files, it merely re-sorts the files into adjacent sectors on your hard drive. After every few months, of installing, downloading, deleting etc: your files become fragmented, not corrupted ! , and this means it takes your PC longer to access these files when needed. So it is still worth doing anyway. Open 'My Computer' right click on the Hard Drive icon ( C:), select 'Properties', click the 'Tools' tab and then click 'Defragment Now'. This may take some time to complete depending on used space on the hard drive and how often you defragment. It is worth noting that you should defrag on a regular basis. If you just want to correct a corrupted file try using System Restore and selecting a date when you know your PC was working fine. Hope this helps,
Eamonn.

Defrag will not fix a corrupted file. You need to replace it.

Defrag is part of System Tools (Start - All Programs - Accessories - System tools).
