I've looked around the web and haven't been able to understand if there is any difference between a PCI slot and a PCI.2. I ask this because my sound card doesn't work with Windows Vista and I've found a card that's compatible but I'm not sure if it will work in my slot, which is just a regular PCI slot. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

They are the same. PCI 1.0 was just component-level specs. PCI 2.0 standards came in 1993 and 2.1 in mid-1995. More details here:

The PCI2 slot, I think you mean the recently new PCI-E (Express) slot. But no your old PCI cards wont even fit into it nor will AGP grahic cards.

You must mean a PCIe2 (express) which will not fit a PCI slot
