I do need help fixing this, it does not happen all the time.Please help me with this. Thank you for your time.

My current Dell has 256mb ram ( 2 -128mb chips) and I have 2 more empty slots, can I add just one 256 mb chips in one of the empty slots or do I have to add one to each empty slot?


The reason I ask is because I have always been taught that ram must be added in pairs but since I already have the 2 128mb chips can I just add one more and not have to add in pairs?



Also of the four slots two of them have white clamps and two have black clamps, both of my 128mb chips are placed in the slots that have the white chip clamps could someone explain this to me why two have white and two have black and why my current 128mb chips are placed in the white ones spaced appart and not put back to back in a white and a black one?

What's up people?

I just got a MSI motherboard and installed it. Now I'm trying to install windows. Here's the problem, when I change the first boot device to cd-rom, and then after reboot, the keyboard doesn't work after the POST test. If I click something it won't work. If i I load default settings the keyboard will work after the post test, but can't do anything becoz windows is not installed. So I need to change the first boot device to CD-ROM to install Windows. What is the problem? Why won't the keyboard work? What must I do? Please help.

I mean, it installed and everything....it's on my desktop. But when i try to run it it, the screen turns black, like its gonna run, but then it just goes back to my desktop, does it every time i try to play. Someone plz help i spent 30 $ on my game and now i cant play.

How can I transfer music files from my PC to my sons lap top? My burner is broke on the PC and the lap top isn't hooked up to the internet. We tried san disks but it's wiping them out. Any suggestions.

My laptop has been giving me alerts saying that I am low on "virtual memory" or something like that. And since I've been removing a lot of things that I don't need or use, I have no clue why that's been happening.

I am playing World of Warcraft, I have a PCI card not PCIe or AGP. I have an aftermarket 128mb PCI card from ATI. I bought it thinking it would help my lag out a little, which it did, but I still get about 10-20 frames per second. I only have 512mb of RAM. If I bought another 512 to make it a gig, would it help my lag and framerate?..

OK well I'm thinking of getting a new computer either a Laptop or a Desktop, I'm wondering what the best brands are that are out in the world today? i can see the two front sound slots (one for microphone and the other for headphone) that are attached with the casing. how can i attach them with the motherboard so that i can connect my headphone in the front slot, rather than going all the way back , to hear music?

I've running on (x4) 512 (3200) sticks of Ram now buy my board will not allow me to run them at speed 400. They are made to run all 400 speed(Patriot brand) but my mobo won't run them that fast in all slots. I've tried trading slots & changing memory settings in the bios received from the manufacturer, but still no luck to run all of them at 400. I can however run 2 of them Dual channel 400 in 2 slots. They are only running at 333 in all 4. Any ideas?

One day it just shut down BUT the power button/light on my computer is still on. It is not my power supply - i replaced it but the same thing is happening. Whenever it is plugged in, the light comes on and when i push it nothing happens. The fan does not come on, the light doesnt flash, no sounds or anything. Please help.

Ok, I have this pc and I was putting in a new video card. "and yes I have tried other pci devices!" Anyway. The fan on the card turns on, seems like it is working perfectly fine however... the monitor stays blank black.
The monitor DOES work with the onboard, What is the problem?
Yes, I have tried the other slots also.

I have an M-Audio Keystation 49e that connects to my PC thorugh USB. The latency is too high for it to even be useful in Sonar. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

how do i boost the signal on a wireless camera setup. its signal strength is about 300ft wich equates to about 40ft-50ft in the real world (cell phone interferance, radio signal interferance etc.) what device is used to boost the signal for these types of devices and how does it work? i need a signal strong enough for it to work up to about 700ft through walls and stuff, the tiny camera is going to be mounted on a small rc car and driven in my backyard : ) there i said it.

I have (or had) a Maxtor DiamondMax plus 9 160gb sata/ 150dd. first ? is since this one is a SATA hdd i should buy another SATA hdd right instead of a EIDE? and second part is is there different SATA kinds i should get, like on my hard drive it says serial ata 1.5Gb/s 3.5 series.

Hello. I recently (about a month ago) installed Xp Pro on my desktop (see below for Syst. Info.) and it was working beautifully. However, one day while it was still running, it stoppe giving signals to I/O (Input/Output) and I'm not sure why. Please help me find out how to fix this problem... It's my only Decent computer.

The computer isn't reading the cd. i've played it before on my computer and it worked and it's not damaged or anything. if it was damaged it would play it and say that it was damage but it acts like there isn't any cd at all in it.
