First you must install your new hard drive as a slave. Boot your system into windows XP command prompt, and the use the xcopy command. All the syntax and options can be found by putting "xcopy command" in your search engine. Pick the result that takes you to the MS website. If you do this from the MS DOS prompt within windows it may not work because some of the files are in use.

You can copy files from one drive to another using copy/paste functions. This will work fine for files, but not for programs. To copy programs too (and expect them to work properly) you'll need to create an image of that drive. It's called duping, mirroring, replicating, ghosting, or imaging a drive.
Here's an example of a program to help with this transfer. It's called Norton Ghost:

Yes you can but you need at least two hard drives. Set one up as the primary and the other as a secondary drive then copy the contents of one HD to the other HD.

when you got only 1 hard drive how could you copy it to another.there's no other!sorry i can't understand what you said but if you want to make another hard drive you can format your hard disk then make another hard drive(you can do it with Windows XP installation)and another way is to get another hard disk and connect it to your master har disk and set the new one as the salve(it should be a map on it to how doing it) hard disk so you can copy your master hard drive to the slave.

Sometimes you can--however I wasnt able to because my copy of windows xp wouldnt allow it. They wont let you duplicate windows as its like getting 2 copies for the price of 1.
