I have 2 old computers. One was not working so I swapped the hard drive with the one that does work. Now neither work. When I put the original back in the working machine, it runs but I have no video. Any suggestions?

I have recently installed vista and have lost my wireless network card, which is now showing as either a network controller or a unknown device inside device manager. Neither have drivers installed.

I have used Everest to try to find out the manufacturers name, make and model etc. No luck, again it says Network controller in there.

Can anybody recommend a program/method to find these details.

I have no device drivers on CD. Windows cannot find them either. (surprise)

Thanks

Hi, I've searched everywhere for an answer to this, but all I'm getting are problems relating to frames-per-second, lag, etc. What my problem is, is when I'm playing any sort of recent computer game (especially Battlefield 2, but even happened on The Sims 2), my comp. runs fine with excellent FPS. But all of a sudden, at random and with no warning, the image on my screen will freeze, and my sound will start skipping like a scratched CD. And this isn't just a little burp- it does this for like 20 seconds. Then it will continue on normally once it's worked itself out. For online games, if it's too long, I will get kicked from whatever server I was on, but other than that, the game goes back to working flawlessly. I've recently installed an EVGA 7900GS vid card, and was wondering if that was the problem. It runs at pretty low temps though, so I don't know. I have a Pentium D 3.00gHz, and 2 gigs of RAM. Sorry this is so long, but if anyone knows, please help!!! Thank you in advance!!

Well; I have my boot device setup listed as booting from the cd/dvd drive; but after displaying the 'msi' boot screen; now when I have my Windows XP Pro SP2 disc in the drive and I try to boot from it; it says this: 'Error Booting from CD/DVD Device...Press Any Key to Reboot'....

..Well; after 'pressing any key' ; it just restarts and keeps bringing me to that screen.

Do I have a faulty drive or what do you guys think?

My CPU ranges from around 30-55 Degrees celcuis while in normal condition, and while gaming , it bursts to 60-70 degrees !!! Is this normal for my CPU or am i doing something wrong?! The fan is connected normally and everything is fine.

Also, i've noticed that my friend's Core 2 Duo is way cooler, it ranges from 20-40 while gaming, even without using a CPU Fan , it doesn't go higher than 60 in full load, can anyone explain?

I heard a single core CPu is better than a dual core in gaming because most of the games out there only support single core.
is that true? So i should get a pentium 4 instead of a core 2 duo =.=?

i have an msi Neo-FSR VIA PT880 and I'm using an intel celeron d 2.53 that came off my old computer (a dell) I also also have 1.5G ram and a 80g hd and a dvd burner. I've read about some motherboards having compatability issues with this cpu. My computer is REALLY slow. It barely works at all. You can find my processor on this list for compatabilty for my mobo.( http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=636&kind=1 ) Is this a compatabilty issue? I got windows installed after waiting almost 4 hours. Even the simplest of tasks take up 100% of my cpu's usage. Can someone tell me what is going on?

I currently have 2 WD external hard drives. When I am ripping a CD it does this just fine, but now I want to rip cd's onto my other external hard drive but it seems to only do this on the one external hard drive. I cut and paste ot get them on the other external that I want, and it does this well also. It seems to take a bit of time move the cd file, and I'd like to be able to just have them rip on the hard drive I wanted in the first place, saving time to rip more cd's, so how to do this?

the computed check sum.

Whenever I try to run my computer, it goes to the Windows XP startup screen, makes a noise like it's about to shut down, and then goes to a totally blue screen - no wallpaper, no icons, no toolbar - with the same statement I put as my question.

I want to know if there is anything I can do to fix this without losing my files.

i would think that there is a way to use pci cards from desktops, with laptops. like a cable that has a connection for a card, and then goes to either usb, firewire, or the card slot. i have a high-end soundcard with a breakout box, and i really want to use it with my laptop...

I mean for like public copying places like Kinko's and stuff. It shouldn't be Kinko's responsibility that you lost your original and they should dig through the copier's hard drive to find an electronic copy. I guess maybe for corporations, it's different, but public copying machines? Take the hard drives out!
