i have an msi Neo-FSR VIA PT880 and I'm using an intel celeron d 2.53 that came off my old computer (a dell) I also also have 1.5G ram and a 80g hd and a dvd burner. I've read about some motherboards having compatability issues with this cpu. My computer is REALLY slow. It barely works at all. You can find my processor on this list for compatabilty for my mobo.( http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=636&kind=1 ) Is this a compatabilty issue? I got windows installed after waiting almost 4 hours. Even the simplest of tasks take up 100% of my cpu's usage. Can someone tell me what is going on?

Your Celeron is probably one problem - try a Pentium, as they have larger caches than Intel Celerons or AMD Semprons. I was amazed at how miserably Celerons performed the first time I used one.

I wouldn't swap out your RAM as one poster suggested, but it might not hurt to see how the computer handles with just the basics, such as with only one stick of RAM.

You know, replacing your motherboard isn't going to make as much of a difference as replacing the CPU? Uhh...you probably wanted to upgrade the CPU if you were looking for a significant performance boost.

If your running Windows Vista then that would be that one issue. Windows Vista needs 2 GB of RAM.
