the computed check sum.

Whenever I try to run my computer, it goes to the Windows XP startup screen, makes a noise like it's about to shut down, and then goes to a totally blue screen - no wallpaper, no icons, no toolbar - with the same statement I put as my question.

I want to know if there is anything I can do to fix this without losing my files.

In my experience, any "checksum" error message means that the processor is beginning to die. In most cases, the processor can be replaced...I would try to transfer all of my pertinent info. to another machine asap...You might have to remove the hard drive-put it in another machine and transfer that way...Good luck!

You may have a corrupted version of Normaliz.dll. That doesn't mean that your personal files are corrupted, however. You may be able to go to a previous restore point, or 'repair' your windows install, if you have the original CD. If not, you should be able to recover your files, though you may need to put your current hard drive in a second machine as a secondary drive, to access the files (though, there are other methods, that's the easiest if you have another machine available).

fix is like reinstalling living house windows yet your information could nonetheless be there. lots of the settings will be gone and quite some the courses will require re-installation too. it isn't suggested that the fix procedure will be triumphant in any respect. verify in case you'll get admission to thepersistent /partition with a Linux stay CD (e.g. ubuntu). if so, make backups of your maximum major information via USB (on an exterior USB-power). If no longer, you've lost each thing and need no longer in simple terms to fix or to reinstall yet to verify the partition from scratch.
