im getting a new mobo and it is DDR2 800
If i get DDR2 677 it will save like $20
so that would be nice.

I know its slower but that doesn't matter

It will work regardless, but at the slower rated speed.

You dont really need to go into details. Take this golden rule in computer compatibility: If it fits, it's probably mean to go that way. ddr1 ram has a different slot that ddr2, so there is no problem with mistaking the two. for the memory type, your motherboard supports 800 mhz, 677 mhz, 533 mhz. This is the speed of the ram, not the size, so the bigger the better. get a ram with 800 mhz if you can. as for the size, remember that you can only use multiple chips of ram that are of the same size, so a 512 chip wont go with a 2 gig chip. Get 1 2 gig chip or 2 chips with 1 gig each. If it fits the board, then most likely it will work.

yes it will work but the downside is that it will work slower than the ddr2 800. you see the ddr are compatible with all ddr and the ddr2 are compatible with all ddr2. they did this in order for memory to be easy to upgrade. in other words the ddr2 and ddr memory is backward compatible just like the ps games play on the ps2 but with worse graphics.

It'll work no problem but you're computer performance will suffer with slower memory

Yes, but slower.

yes it will work but before that, take this site's memory test

did you know that increasing your paging file size will also increase your computer's performance?

you got a good computer ☺

You probably won't notice any difference.
