I want to upgrade RAM on a HP Pavilion. I've been seeing adds in the newspaper for RAM a lot cheaper than what HP is telling me. Do I have to buy their prouduct? It's a dinosaur of a computer so it's not like I'm in danger of messing up a warranty. I just don't want to put any money into it if I really don't have to.The Data runs at 133MHZ Memory for my model. I also know that my computer can hold up to 512. Is there info on the box it comes in to see if it's compatible with my model #? Or info site?

It is an old system that I want to set up strictly for web surfing and I have extra ram (133) when I install it on the mother board the computer won't boot. is there a way to get around this?

My computer has 2 hard drives. The first one is the c drive with windows. The second is has 2 partitions, I want to be able to choose, before windows starts up, to boot from a certain partition on my second hard drive. Can I do that? If so, how do I do it and what do i need to instal.

I have a hard drive in an external case connected via usb. The external case is fine as it runs other hard drives. However, my music hard drive won't boot up - it isn't making the whirlling noise it should so the disc isn't spinning. Any ideas how to get it working or is all my data lost?

If my I am using a SATA HDD and an IDE DVD Burner, do i still need to connect the IDE cable from the dvd burner with the HDD?
or just simply, sata cable to sata header, and ide cable to ide header? thx!!!

I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 Laptop that I am looking to upgrade into a desktop. The laptop I have has a Pentium 4 processor which has had a memory upgrade from 512 to 1GB. Now I am not to sure of the detail on this but when I look at the system in my control panel, it says that I have 2.8ghz on the processor (CPU) and 1.25GB of RAM. When I compare these to the stats to the new intel Processors (Intel Duo – core) it seems as though the processor in my laptop is faster than the duo core ones! Surely this cannot be right?
