RAM does not store information and yes it can get used up but only for the period that the PC is running. RAM gets use is based on the number of applications for you running at once. For example you might be running 6 - 8 applications at once and this uses up a lot of memory and as a result will slow you down considerably depending the amount of RAM each application needs. Fro example trying to download several files/images, etc at once will tax your RAM depending on how much RAM you do have. One way to alleviate getting RAM bogged down is to quit some of the applications or downloads as the case may be. But if you are having issue with RAM my suggestion to you would be to increase how much Memory is installed on your PC. Memory is inexpensive - you can check with a PC shop near you to purchase some, or you might even ask your friends if they have any lying around. Sometimes people upgrade and have what was inadequate for them just lying around and might be just enough to alleviate your problems.
Hope this helps.

RAM is temporary memory, where your computer stores information that it needs right now so it can access it faster than it can access the hard disk. For example, this internet browser window that you are reading is currently stored in your RAM because you only need it temporarily.
Everything is RAM gets erased when you restart or turn off your computer because you don't need to save it permanently. Also, closing programs that you have running frees up space on the RAM. If you do need something permanently, you save it on your hard disk.
Depending upon what programs and operating system (Windows, Mac OS, etc) you run, the amount of memory you add may or may not affect your speed. If you add more, you can usually have more programs running at the same time, and it can significantly speed up your computer if you didn't have enough originally. However if you had enough before, you probably don't need more.
If you have a lot of memory already (512MB and greater) and aren't running huge programs such as 3D modeling and video editing or games, and your computer still appears to be slow, run a virus and a spyware scan to see if there are any unwanted programs running in your memory without you knowing. Also close programs that you don't need immediately, as that will help free up more RAM for other programs.
There are more advanced methods to free up RAM, which a simple search on Google will show you how to do these (such as closing startup programs through the msconfig utility), but keep in mind that they are slightly riskier, and may cause problems if you delete or modify the wrong file.

Random Access Memory is the reusable temporary memory where your programs reside when running on your computer. Yes, it can get full, but not used up unless it goes bad. The reason it's name includes "random" is because it's very fast, but when power is off it loses everything it was storing.
Whether super-sleuth forensic security folks can read what was last there with their new techniques, I don't know.
First, let me state that Windows does not use and reuse memory well nor efficiently. So what sometimes happens, when you leave the computer on for extended periods of time, is that Windows loses track of reusable areas of memory (RAM). So, sometimes you can get an "out-of-memory" message. Just reboot your system and continue.

RAM is volatile memory. This means when you remove power, it loses everything. No need to erase cause once you turn your PC off, all the data that was in it is gone.

RAM is only used when the computer is on as memory to keep from having to access the hard drive on every application. so when the computer gets turned of anything you had in ram that wasn't saved to the hard drive will be lost.so there shouldn't be anything on it to erase.

No, RAM doesnt save data, it just temporarily used by windows when windows/ programs running, RAM will delete it automaticly. If you still need to 'free up' ( not delete ) your RAM, you can try Tune Up Utilities, and you can free up your RAM manually. Oh ya, RAM will be fully clean when windows is shut down.
