I'd go with STAT DVD burner if your motherboard had another SATA header.

well, if you have a SATA hdd then there is no way you can even plug an IDE cable into it. so simply, SATA to SATA, IDE to IDE.

next, which on eis better. For the most part, the newer SATA DVD drives are still pretty buggy. Not every motherboard will even recognize it. There really is no gain in speed, only cable management. Having both SATA hdd's and dvd drives will free up some space, but unless you are a big gaming enthusiast who likes to overclock and have multiple video cards, you shouldn't really worry too much about cable management. IDE has been proven for so long and even the newest fastest UBER gaming, editing, designer rigs are still using IDE dvd drives. AS far as hdd's go, DO NOT get IDE. SATA works great and are easier to setup.

My suggestion, get a $30-$40 IDE DVD burner from newegg.com and whatever size SATA hard drive you want, if you don't already have one. SATA DVD drives are nice, but more expensive, and it really comes to what you want. there is no real difference in performance though. not any you would actually see anyways.

her's my setup

yes..connect the IDE cable to the IDE header on your mobo and your burner. SATA burner is better..faster data transfer.
