Go Sim Lim to search for cheap keyboard and mouse. i strongly recommend logitech because it ll last longer as i've got personal experience. my logitech keyboard lasted me 3 years. you can try a store called FUWELL in Sim Lim.

You told that you spoilt three keyboards and two mouses, so, its better to buy a keyboard and a mouse of best quality, so, that it won't be spoilt again(if you handle it carefully).I think this will help you.

You should not spend more than $20 combined. Stay away from laser and optical components. Just get wired, they will last forever and are a lot cheaper. When you can afford it, go crazy.
They should have a one year warranty standard so you will be covered in case of break down.

dont go for wireless...they are waster of money and require frequent change of batteries.....u will get a logitech/microsoft optical mouse and a nice ps2 multimedia keyboard(its a combined kit) for Rs.800(indian currency)....dont go for anything more....this is heaper and better than wireless things
