You have got american keyboard layout you need to change it to the layout for your counntry. follow the directions i have sent you and it should be ok.

How to change keyboard language in Windows XP
Click Start and then Control Panel

1. Select start then control panel

2. Open Regional and Language Options.

3.Click all the tabs at the top and check there is nothing inthe boxes showing united states, if there are change them to united kingdom

7 if any needs changing click the little arrow at the side of the box, and you will be presented with a list of countrys, form this list select united kingdom.

8. When you have completed selction click apply then ok.

9. If a language does not appear in the Input language list, the fonts for that language might not be installed. If that is the case, follow the instructions below.



Add language support

1. Click Start and then Control Panel

2. Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
Click on the Languages tab.
3. Under Supplemental language support, select the check box beside the applicable language collection

4. Click OK or Apply. You will prompted to insert the Windows CD-ROM or point to a network location where the files are located. After the files are installed, you must restart your computer.

Go to START ---> SETTINGS ----> CONTROL PANEL -----> click the keyboard ICON, in the keyboard window click 'Input Locals' choose [EN] English {United Kingdom}, then click 'set as default'. In the keyboard window click 'Hardware' the keyboard should be set to 'Standard 101/102 - key' or similar.

When windows is installed it defaults to a US keyboard layout, you need to go to control panel, region and language settings and change it to UK. Just go through everything and change the region. I also dlete the US keyboard layout and just leave the UK one

Shift-' Pressing Shift-' gives you the @ character
