I've got a Fujitsu Siemens C Series Lifebook laptop and in the last few weeks I've been having trouble turning it on. You press the button and you can hear the fan begin to spin but nothing after that. Occasionally it takes a couple of attempts to switch it on but then other times no matter what you try it won't turn on. Have tried giving the switch a good clean but without any luck... any ideas?

I just bought a new laptop with windows vista. It's pretty confusing. There are lots of software pre-installed. Which ones can I remove. Also, how do I turn off the touchpad on the mouse? It drives me nutts. I'm trying to move the mouse and I accidently click on something.

Whenever I turn it on it immedeatly the mouse disappears and the computer is frozne,and I have to turn it of about 3-4 times so that it can be used.After I finally get a working computer I get a little box saying that there is something with my system etc,and to fiz the problem I have to click "switch to".I am not all good with computers so I have no clue what could possibly going on!
Help!BTW I gave it to a prof.comp.tech.to get it fixed(3x) ,but the problem still comes back!

Just bought it last Tuesday but found it later that it only runs on 32 bit. I thought vista runs in 64 bit. Is there any possibility that i can upgrade it to 64 bit? If there is, how?

Well, my sister wants to buy a new laptop, and she has a budget of around US $1,200. Just wanted to ask some questions:

-What's are the desirable brands to go for?
-What processors are good, and what are avoidable?
-What's the deal with the new windows, should I go for one with it?
-Processing speeds: around what speeds are reasonably good for processors?

I took it to a computer tech to fix last summer and shelled out $350 to fix what he said was a Video Card problem. It worked fine for 3 months but afterwards the same problem happened again. Sadly his warranty only lasted for 3 months.

I've been getting different analysis from the video card problem to maybe screen, motherboard, or fan. I don't know if it's the screen since it works fine at first.

Is there any way to fix it or should I attempt to buy a new laptop though I'm broke right now? Thanks!

I recently bought an Alienware computer, and it came with a free upgrade to Windows Vista, anyone else out there who has this same deal with Alienware or one of the other participating companies?? If so and you have already done your Vista upgrade please tell me how to do it.

i won a sony 17" laptop on ebay with the following specs:
1. 100gb Sata hd + 100gb sata hd (raided)
2. 1gb ram
3. 128mb ati x1600 graphics
4. 2.0 Ghz T7200 Dual core 2 duo processor
5. 17" xbrite widescreen
5. bluetooth
6. dvd burner (not dual layer burner)

Battery is not included, and original box is included with the purchase. battery goes for about $50 to $100.

I won the laptop without battery for 1150.

Please let me know what you think. would you spend this much for a core 2 duo with x1600 graphics

I've connected to random wireless things b 4 to get onto the internet on my laptop, but can i wirelessly connect to my home computer without a router for my laptop or anything. I figure if I could connect wirelessly to another comp out there than I can connect to my home comp. My laptop doens't have anything on it like a router that I bought or anything. I just push the little blue button that lights up and I look for my options for connection. So is it possible to connect to my home comp like it did to the other comps ?

Ok I had this laptop and i was on the sofa using it with windows open. my mom was putting water in a fountain.Somehow she sprayed me and my laptop with water(she said she didn't do it on purpose but idon't believe her) I shut it down immediatly and drie it off the best i can. After it dried i boot it up to see if she killed it. the mouse won't work. I try again half an hour later and it works fine. one week later while i was using it it just died. Could these events be related.

I'm looking to buy a Dell XPS M1710 (the top-of-class gaming laptop) but Dell are still shipping this model with Windows XP until end of March, I suspect because they may be introducing a GeForce 8 series graphics card for DirectX 10 under Windows Vista for the same time or shortly after.
On the one hand, I could get a 10% discount (that's quite a lot at these prices) and be sure to receive it before I go on a long trip in May by making do with the Geforce 7950 GTX currently shipped with this model or on the other hand, I can wait till April, risk not getting my laptop before my trip (which is one of the reasons I want the laptop) but have a DirectX dedicated graphics card. Is it worth the wait and risk? Opinions...? Thanks.

Hi folks. A friend of mine is going to be travelling around Vietnam, Africa etc and needs to take a laptop or notebook computer with her. She needs something small and light, but with a good battery life per charge. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I recently bought a dell laptop and the expiration for the vista upgrade ends in March. I'm excited to see it's contents, however, I'd like some good advice as to its value at this time. I have heard that it takes up a lot of memory and I'm currently operating with 1gb. I have also heard that it will have some bugs to be worked out -in particular the drivers. Is it just better to wait and pay or to go ahead and get it now. Oh, and once you get it - can't you just visit the microsoft site to address the necessary bug fixes?
