Ok I had this laptop and i was on the sofa using it with windows open. my mom was putting water in a fountain.Somehow she sprayed me and my laptop with water(she said she didn't do it on purpose but idon't believe her) I shut it down immediatly and drie it off the best i can. After it dried i boot it up to see if she killed it. the mouse won't work. I try again half an hour later and it works fine. one week later while i was using it it just died. Could these events be related.

Yes- they are likely related. Is the laptop still under warranty?

They actually are. Call the manufacturer and claim that "it just stopped working". I did that with a Dell laptop that i spilled coffee on and I got a free Dell XPS gaming laptop. But they will most likley replace your water damaged parts for free, but only if you tell them it wasn't caused by water or anything you did.

Yes, they could be related but it is also possible that the events are totally separate. Hard to tell.

Yes they are related and you need to either take it to a shop and see if it can be fixed or tell your mother to get you a new one.

Good luck

Probably. Open it up and see if corrosion shorted things out. Unfortunately, it sounds expensive.

Take it to bestbuy's geeksquad and ask them if it's ok. Sometimes they would check it for free. If they say we have to keep it then just pay for it.
