i am choosing between and apple macbook and a windows. the windows can be any version (vista, media center, home, etc.) and any brand, as long as it can compete with the apple. also, if u can, wat is a good program that is cheap and you can use to make urban style beats, such as hip hop and rap and is compatible with a keyboard and digital drums.

I am working on a business proposal to bring in short power cords for people who have to travel around with their laptops everyday. They might be students or working professionals. I find my laptop power brick already have a pretty long cord. It is a chore to fold my 3 feet long power cord and try to find a space to squeeze it into the bag after every meeting. I thought the ladies might find this appealing as it means less weight and better space management. In the event you need a long cord during the meeting should your batteries die on you, there is always a friend or colleague to rely on to bridge the situation. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate it and this will determine if I put this up for sale on my website. Thanks.

BTW, this reminds me of the show 'Man in Black'. If the cord is too short, just move the table nearer the outlet. Be the best of the best of the best. : ) Cheers.

I am a photo buff as my digital camera is my best friend. I frequently upload & burn my personal movies, lounging and surfing at cafes, burning my photos & copying them to friends, watching movies ( so good audio is important), and using the computer to call overseas so a good mic is also important. If the better choice is a Mac, is the black better bec. it does not leave fingerprints or a white Mac? I read some reviews that the white Mac esp. its keyboard easily gets dirty? My main concern is the weight and size but if the other has more features with a little difference in price, I would go for that. Is there anyone who is a pro at comparing both features of both models given what I intend to do with my laptop? I need your valuable unbiased advise! ( meaning I hope you donot work for either Apple or Dell :) THANK YOU !

Though it's not quite swing, my laptop somtimes clicks aproximately eight times in a sort of up-beat rythm; i.e. "and one, and two, and..."
It also beeps at times. It's all definately coming from the machine itself rather than the sound system.
What's going on in there?

Hello. I am a newbie when it comes to laptops. I am not a techie person at all. So that's why I need your help. I'm planning to buy a laptop later. And I'm thinking of buying a mac. But i don't which model. Here's by criteria. The laptop has to be light (so i can carry it everywhere), high memory capabilities, affordable price, fast processing (it doesn't stall) and of course, it has to be stylish. If you're thinking of mac, which model? I'm open to suggestions (non-mac). Thanks!

All the stores around me (Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc) no longer sell notebooks with XP. It's only been 48 hours since the release and no one sells XP anymore. Is Vista backwards compatable. Can I buy a Vista notebook and just install XP or am I asking for trouble?

I bought my Gateway laptop new from BestBuy about a year and a half ago. Up until about 6 months ago, my computer would automatically connect to any wireless networks that were available. Now, it won't show any wireless networks available even when I know there is at least one, such as at a public place with Wifi. I've tried to repair the wireless connection and it displays this message: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the followinng action cannot be completed: Connecting to the wireless network." Also, my windows firewall is off so it should work, shouldn't it? Could this be a virus? I am in the process of doing a scan with Norton and it hasn't found one yet (it's scanned about 200,000 files). I don't think I have a warranty on my computer anymore. Is it expensive to get something like this fixed? Where do I find someone?

Do laptop and notebook clocks run off of a hearing aid battery or do they feed off of the regular battery that runs the OS? I have a problem with a laptop I am working on. It keeps shutting down at various times for no reason. It is not overheating, and I can't get it so stay on long enough to run a virus scan. I am wondering if the battery is shot. Even with AC power plugged in, it still shuts down (completely-no reboot) at unpredictable times. ???

I want to install a network card on my laptop but I don't have the disc that came with it. (It's a few years old) I ran a check on my computer to see if it had the driver on it but it doesn't have it for the model I have. (It's a D-link DFE-670TXD). I found the driver it needs online using my desktop but when I downloaded it to a disc and tried to run it on my laptop it said the disc didn't contain files related to my hardware, and I KNOW it was the right driver. Is there any other way to get the driver on the laptop without the original disc? I can't connect the two computers b/c the network adapter is the kind that allows you to plug in a CAT5 cable, not a wireless one. PLEASE HELP!!
