i am buying a new tablet pc. is it going to be worth getting a vista upgrade (as vista has touchscreen upgrades etc.) ?

As far as I chkd, the majority opinion is to go for the Intel C2D due to better performance, power saving etc. But I have also heard different opnions on the processor selection when it comes to gaming. Is it true that the dual processor on AMD is better for gaming compared to Intel C2D? Also that most applications that are used will not make full use of the complete capabilities of the Intel C2D?? I want to use my laptop mainly for internet, spreadsheets, GAMING!! (NFS-Carbon etc), music, movies, Photoshop.

3 months ago i purched a hp dv5000 with a 1.6 dual core processor, 1 gig of ram and 100gig hdd. i ran a vista check on the laptoo and it told me that the laptop could only run vista basic home edition. is there anything i can do so that it will be able to run vista?

I am looking to buy a laptop with a 14-15.4 screen, brand does not matter, in a store, not online, with 2gb ram, and Win XP Professional. Has anyone seen any. I have looked at BestBuy,Office Depot,Staples, and they are getting their shelves ready for Vista. I am not ready for Vista yet. Thank you! Liz

We think the charger is not working because when plugged in, the little green light starts strong, then fades within seconds, and the laptop itself shows low battery. The battery now is "critically low."

Our question is, "do we have to go back to Dell to buy a charger that will work?" Can we buy one here in our small town? It's a time issue. The laptop is for my husband's work.

I had to format the laptop and because I didn't have the original disk, I used a copy. I thought this would be ok as I had the product key. Is there a way of validating windows without bying a disk?

Using a IBM Thinkpad R50 model, but the 256mb RAM chip belongs to my friend long time back as during school project he was using my notebook then he installed as he found out the speed isnt sufficient. Now he is asking it back, so I need to give it, we not kinda friends now though, so this is the last deal, am gonna have it with him. Either I can remove then hand him over the ram chip or pay him the bucks and send to him via bank transfer. Thats it. So say me what models and brands and their respective prices and whether the specs are compatible with my notebook or not. IBM Thinkpad R50 Intel Centrino. I want to buy a laptop. I am a college student and want to take it to class so its important that it is light.
