my boss died and he gave me a laptop i dont know his password i know the usename iv tryed everything it a dell inspiron 1300

So he dies first & then gives you the laptop ?
Just reinstall Windows.

First start it using safemode. On start-up, select Administrator as the user (don't use other users), and leave the password box blank ( people usually don't define a password for Admin while installation). If it didn't wok, Reinstall windows and upgrade it. While installation you can set users & passwords. It also might not work. Then an alternative is to use a rescue CD which resets windows passwords. reformat the hardrive, then you can set your own password.
