Laptops & Notebooks - January 2007

On my Dell laptop there's a slot above the hard drive and I don't know what it's for. Does anyone know? It's a Dell M1210. Right above the hard drive is a slot that doesn't fit a Cardbus PC card.

Is there anyway to upgrade graphics card for a notebook? I know you can't open it up and add another graphics chip. Is there any graphics card i can add via ADVANCED PC CARD SLOT (if not presently, then in the future)?

And also is it possible go into the bios and increase the amount of ram for a Intel GMA 950?

I have a gateway laptop with 512mg ram(2x 256mg), my system is a cx200s tablet pc, and i would like some info on picking the type of ram fo my system. gateway told me my system uses "ddr2 sodimm 533mhz " and i am looking to get a 1gig card, so @ some point i can expand to 2gig.

Gateway wont tell me much, because they want me to buy from them. os if you know much about this ind of thing, please help me out..

ok i hav a laptop but the charger for it got screwed up so i bought a new 1 only problem is i ordered it from saudi arabia wich is wer i bought the laptop and as is typical business practice over there, i got something completely different from wat i wanted. im back in the states now and i FINALLY got the new charger last week only its an entirely different model from the original the original outputs 19V 4.74amps (90 watts) DC wile the new 1 outputs only 19V 3.72 (65 watts) DC. will the new charger still work normally and charge the battery with its lower amerage/wattage? another thing is, i like to run the comp off ac power, that is i keep the adapter plugged in and use the comp wile the battery charges. will the adapter b able 2 handle this as well? please ppl i really need help with this i badly need 2 use the comp but i dont wanna find out too late that the charger cant deliver enough juice and be left with a mess of fried circuitry. will the charger handle the load or wont it????

It's making these really odd grinding noises like somethings stuck in it -- but theres nothing but dust. I've tried cleaning it out however its still not working. Now, I turn on the computer and it works for about 5 minutes and then shuts down and the fan isn't working all together.

[No, I didn't take apart the computer to check the problem/clean it. I blew at it to remove dust and a good amount came out..]

She has her laptop hooked up to a larger flat screen monitor so she can see the screen better...it is also going through a docking thing that the laptop sits on...the wallpaper shows up on the other screen but not the pointer or the icons...any advice?

I bought my laptop about 2 weeks ago and i'm starting to experience difficulties with it's performance. Its a Packard Bell Easy note MZ35 . Everytime i watch a video or streaming online its freezes or stops, What's wrong with it?

The contrast of my laptop got really dark and I can't change it. I closed the top of it to protect it from my dogs when they were running by. It's so dark i can only see a limited amout of things. I can't see my cursor too. I doubt that it is a virus( my dad said so) and that it has to do with something that i did. It's a hp 2001. HELP!

Good Evening, I have a question to ask but I wasn’t sure about this.
How MANY times can one re-format there Laptop?
I got this laptop about 1 year ago, and so far I have re-format 4 times, I’m a heavy web surfer, and also do Graphic Design. I have notice my laptop is slow now than before 3 month ago. Is it safe to re-format AGAIN? I have the CD that came with it all I do is pop in the CD, and it’s automatic. I don't know why it’s getting slower I clean out all history/cookie/temp folder; I use TuneUp for registry key clean up. I run disk-check and disk-defragment every day. Please if you have knowledge of this topic, can you help me? I would appreciate. Have a Good Day.
