Vista is the new operating system from Microsoft. For your needs both operating systems will do but I would recommend getting one now because they are cheaper and more reliable. The first year of so of a new release it is best to stay away from it for a while. This way all the bugs are worked out so when you finally do upgrade to Vista you won't have programs crashing every time you go to type your next report. Especially if this is for college you want one that won't crash every other time you go to type your report.

All of the major Laptop vendors are participating in the VISTA READY program. It allows you to buy a laptop today if you like and qualifiy for a low cost or FREE upgrade to VISTA on January 30th. Not all Laptops will run the new AERO interface of VISTA, and that's the key new feature noticeable for typical consumers. So, try and get a VISTA READY laptop and be assured of a easy swap to VISTA in a couple of weeks.

If you really are bent on getting Vista, please wait until the second release. Remember we're talking Microsoft here!
WIndows 3.0 didn't really run well until W4WG3.11, then it was Win95B, win98SE, after these they go by Service Pack #. So wait for Vista SP2 - don't be lulled into being a Beta tester, unless you really want to.

Windows Vista is suppose to replace Windows XP. Better wain until app the bugs are panned out of it. I am not in any hurry to get it. I'll stick with Windows XP for the time being. I know XP works.

If you're going to connect a computer with a Microsoft Windows opertaing system to the internet, then be very, very careful. Ensure that you have plenty of protection against viruses, adware, trojans, spyware and other such nasties.

I pretty propose a refurbished Apple. i'm able to't supply an instantaneous link (their save has unusual hyperlinks...do not ask). surely, on the Apple save, scroll to the bottom-left, click Refurbished Mac. (that's ideal next to diverse different, similar deals)
