Not a prob! Got your e message, the new charger will work without harming your laptop but it probably wont charge quite as fast. It may even overheat as your system might draw more current than the new adapter can put out! Dont leave it unattended if you use it! If you already purchased it, feel free to try it as long as polarity on the plug is correct! I aint sure if it will tell you but you definitely need to make sure before you try it! The polarity may be marked on the adapter and the jack both. The fellow above me knows what he is talkin about also, You can find a replacement adapter as long as the plug polarity is the same and getting one larger than 90 watts wont harm your laptop. To put it in laypersons terms, using an adapter or power supply that is capable of outputting more wattage simply means it can handle a larger load, not that it is going to if the load doesnt demand it!

One of the misconceptions about power supplies is that people assume the device is generating power equal to what the rating on the sticker is. This is not correct. Power supplies for equipment generally do the following:

1. Convert AC to DC
2. Amplify AC
3. Drop AC to a specific voltage

The sticker on each power supply is the maximum amount of power that can be drawn from a connected device without damaging the power supply.

Your former power supply was rated at 19V and 90 Watts so that the notebook could draw enough power without damaging the power supply.

If the new power supply is 65W, you may damage the power supply if the notebook requires more than what the power supply has been engineered for.

I used to design power supplies in school so I understand what's going on inside.

I could get all technicall but to put it the simplest way no. If you need a charger now go to your local bestbuy or radioshack and you can buy a universal for your particlar laptop but they will run you 100-130 bucks. Also it will most likely charge your battery with no problem. But it will not run with the computer on.

Edited. I don't like the previous guys post. It is unsafe to run a underpowered device on any product. It will most likely blow your adapter first but you could do damage to your laptop.

It is conditionally safe to run it in this situation;
Just be ready that the adapter will get hotter than usual, and don't leave it unattended for too long...
The best thing to do with an underpowered adapter is to not turn the laptop on while the batteries are charging.

I really ought to inform you to get that port/jack repaired because it is the likely mission with it shorting out contained in the jack. Or the cord close to the computer plug end is shorted out interior. both way, paintings needs to be carried out earlier you ultimately end up with a operating laptop or computer you could't use in any respect.
