Its possible and easy. The number of cables that can be connected to a Mac Mini is surprising. You'll need a networking cable though, also called an ethernet cable.

For faster connections you can use Firewire cables, most PC's use sony's iLink, which is the 4-pin firewire(1394 iEEE) while Mac's use the 6-pin version.

If your laptop is a mac, then it is very easy to do. If you plan on using a mini with a windoze laptop, you would have to st up a network for the two to be able to "talk" to each other.
In an all Mac environment:
Shut off both puters, connect both computers using a firewire cable.
Boot one computer normally, when it is fully up and running, then boot the other one HOLDING the 'apple' button and the 'T' button. A firewire symbol will appear on the 2nd computer, and the 2nd computer will mount on the first computer like an external hard drive, CD, DVD etc.

Sure can,a mini has built in wireless connectivity so just join your network or LAN. Sharing must be enabled on both to be productive.
