Does anyone know any websites, shops, places where i can get one? I have tried E-bay, PC-HUB, PC world etc Asus also not responsive... OR if i can purchase any CPU fan and do a DIY job ... talking of which is it easy to remove the defunct fan from the laptop - any precautions?!

I have a pentium mobile cpu for a laptop doing nothing, Its not that hard to replace (a bit daunting at first), Practice by taking a laptop apart bit by bit and put it back together. Remember where everything came from.

I would really advise that you do not attempt to repair this component yourself. The CPU fan is connected with a very delicate cable and tears with the slightest of force leaving the connection in an inaccessable part of the laptop. This is not just an Asus problem but I do know that many people have had noisy and faulty CPU fans on this unit. Asus uk can be contacted by telephone on 0870 1208340 and will repair the fan for you but it's not cheap. However, in my experience most repair shops end up charging more than Asus anyway. I repair servers, business machines and laptops at an electronic level for a living and I would send it to Asus.
