Space is calculated in computers in terms binary data . the lowest in sequence is a bit which is either 0 or 1 . So let us start now.
8 bit = 1 byte ,
1024 byte = 1 MB
1024 MB = 1 GB .

Now the calculating can be done

To be redundant, there are 1,024 Mb in a Gigabyte, not 1,000.

it's 1024mb. Most people just round it off to the nearest 1000 it's easier to multiply.
