I want to buy a laptop. I am a college student and want to take it to class so its important that it is light. I also LOVE playing online games, and am really into taking pictures, and storing music so I would need memory for that. I have a budget of 1,000. I would like a DVD/CD burner. Other than that I have NOOOO idea where to start. Any suggestions?

Apple MacBook 13". I got one and i love it. The price is 1099$US and has a discount for college students (-100). It is a great computer for pictures, music and everything. I've never had a problem with any of my mac computers.

Good luck.

This one is very hard because they don't really make laptops that cater for what your asking. Light laptops have lower specs so they do a lot less. Larger laptops have higher specs but cost more and are a lot heavier.

You have to decide what you want or need. Light laptop will cater for you need of mobility, will have enough storage to handle or storage while fitting to your budget. Larger laptops will cater for your want to play online games. It won't fit into your ability to be mobile and most likely not fit into your budget. You can also break it easily if you take it around everywhere and that can be a big headache and expensive to fix.

For what you want, a 14 inch screen, pentium 4 with 512mb Ram and a 80GB hard driver with built in wireless will be more than adequate for your needs besides the online games. If your determined to fine a laptop to be able to play online games. Look for something with 1 or 2 GB or Ram and a larger hard driver with a very good video card however this will probably all be too much for the budget.

Best bet is to go simple with the laptop and to satisfy your online game needs go to an internet cafe and play your heart out.

For looks and good peformance, I usually recommend HP. They have some of the best overall customer service, offer quite a few models with either Intel or AMD processors, and like I've already mentioned, look extremely sharp for a low price.

Personally, I like the Business laptop model they offer - nc6320 - with a Core 2 Duo from Intel. If you can afford to spend about $1000, get yourself a Core 2 Duo at any speed.you can get. They blow the competition out of the water in terms of battery life and gaming performance.

Get one from a reputable company, like HP, and try to get one with Core 2 Duo. Make sure not to confuse Core 2 Duo with Core Duo. That "2" makes ALOT of performance difference!
