i am trying to connect my lap top to my pc via ethernet cable. i have managed to get internet on my lap top,but i cannot transfer any files from my pc to lap top ie movies i have stored on my pc. the reason iam doing this is because my house pc does not have dvd rewriter,laptop does. have tried using file transfer wizard no joy. what am i doing wrong.?

I have a hp laptop and says I have about 7% free space, the guy I got it from said I cannot add anymore memory, is this true, what files or programs can I delete to gain some free space?

Help! My computer is only 2 weeks old and the cd drive is stuck. I called Gateway technical support and they said to stick a paper clip into the hole by the release button. I tried that several times but nothing happens. When I press the eject button, my computer makes this noise like its TRYING to open, but it can't. I bought the floor model computer cuz they were out of them and it was a clearance model so I don't know if Best Buy will fix it free or what. Am I totally screwed or does anyone have any suggestions besides the paperclip thing?

the mouse on my laptop moves about on its own and i cant control it sometimes. I use the pad and the curser shoots to the top and i have to fight with it to get it to move then suddenly its ok. any ideas??

The hinges on my laptop have broken, and despite being able to simply rest the screen against something, I miss being able to open it and have it on my lap anywhere.

Is there some way to keep it remaining upright? With tape or something? I can't afford to have it fixed. Any ideas?

ok i bought a NETGEAR wireless card for my laptop and it installed fine and everything but it says "connected to router" and it wont let me get on the internet i have already typed in the WEP code and everything and even tried re-installing and it still says it .... but i do have a excellent signal ...and the labtop does work on LAN thats what im on right now.. and i do have my desktop right next to me and it is on wireless and it works fine so ....help?

I have a laptop I'm going to put 2gb of ram in it and I have a ATI Radon Xpress 200 video card.I have the same video card on in my desktop and it has more memory directed to it. (So better Graphics) Is there a way i can give my video card 64mb of memory instead of 32mb?

could you buy a computer processor off of like ebay or something, and then put it into your laptop? if you can, how do you? my computer is run on 1.73 Ghz and i wanna buy a 2.80 Ghz processor so it will run hecka faster. please let me know anything and everything you know about this stuff.

so heres the deal I ordered a computer 2 weeks before xmas from staples. I got the computer 2 days before xmas and set it up a week later only to find that the speakers were broken. So I called them to get the computer repalced 2 weeks later I get my new new computer and the computer has 15GB hard-drive less then the one I ordered and the CD Drive doesnt work. So I called them again to get that one repaced and now I just got the New New New computer and again it still has 15GB less then it should. What should I do? I think I deserve a brand new one free or this last one free or this new new new one free since everything works besides the 15GB?

suddenly my cd drive doesnt want to work. ive been burning songs onto my notebook, and then i went to put a cd in, and my the cd drive made clunky kinda noise, then it didnt sound like it was spinning the cd, and then it growled at me! How bad is this? ive tried several different cd's, so its defintly the drive. Is there anything i can do???

on the CNN website, when i click on the video part of the news, a new window for the CNN video pops opens but it only shows the content and a blank screen is also displayed where the video usually plays but the video doesnt play.
Is it my Norton or any popblockers or the internet connection speed?But the Videos on the BBCWORLDNEWS do play well and so does videos on googlevideo, youtube.
can anyone suggest or help me to get the CNN video to play on my laptop

I spilled soda on my laptop, but thankfully nothing is seriously wrong except the fact that the keyboard is sticky, and a small region is mildly dysfunctional(for example, it types "qwe" for q,w, and e). Are there any ways to clean it? By the way, my laptop is HP Pavillion ze4904us, and I have yet to discover a way to remove the keys or keyboard.

More so after the computer has just been turned off. The adapter is still connected to the laptop and the power outlet at this point. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
