you can. even it is good to remove the battery if you arenot going to use it for a long period. the negative side is, if you have a power failure in the middle of your work, the laptop has no power backup. you may lose your work.

Yes, I'm using one now! The battery died well over a year ago. I just use it plugged into the wall. Since this is my employer's laptop, I found out there are no more batteries available for this discontinued model. I'm the only person with a still-working laptop. But that is likely due to using software like "AdAware," and defragmenting my files every time I use the computer. It really makes a difference.

It doesn't matter where the laptop gets the power - as long as it gets it.

That depends on the laptop. Some laptops run just off the batteries and all the AC does is charge them back up. Others have separate curcuits for both. The best way to find out is remove the battery and see if it still powers up.

Yes, plugging it in an outlet over rides the batteries and you are not using them.

Yes, it works with a power outlet, but its kinda dangerous, because if your power suddenly goes off or gets disconnected, everything just turns off.. :) You don't need a battery for a laptop

should be as long as it has power coming from somwhere. however some have to have a battery cause the power is routed through it. so it depends on the model you have and how old it is.
