suddenly my cd drive doesnt want to work. ive been burning songs onto my notebook, and then i went to put a cd in, and my the cd drive made clunky kinda noise, then it didnt sound like it was spinning the cd, and then it growled at me! How bad is this? ive tried several different cd's, so its defintly the drive. Is there anything i can do???

RUN, don't walk, to the nearest Apple Store and get this fixed right away. If this is less than one year old, or if you have AppleCare and it's less than 3 years old, you should be able to get this fixed, or they'll probably give you a new computer, no questions asked. But go to the people that know macs best. Go to the Apple Store. Don't go to Best Buy or CompUSA. The Best Buy people are retarded and don't know jack about computers.
Or if you can't go to the Apple Store, and you have AppleCare, the phone number should be somewhere on your AppleCare certificate. I heard you get better service at customer relations though. But talk to Apple about getting it fixed. Even if you don't have AppleCare, you're covered for 1 year for mail-in.

Take the drive out of the PC. Use a paperclip to open the drive if you can't get it open. With the tray open, shake it & see if something comes out. I had one of those spacers that come with a pack of CD's get stuck in mine.

Your disk motor or laser array seems to be broken. You need a new drive...
