Okay, I'm building this computer, and I have everything. The thing is when I plug the power chord in, the power lights comes up & the hard drive turns on without pressing the power button on but the computer (MB) is off. I'm thinking its the power supply. When I push the power button it won't respond to it; i have to turn it off from the back. For me to able to turn on the computer completely I have to press the back switch off and on for like 7 times for it to turn on. But after a while it turns off... any help please!

I have talked with a couple people who have the same problem with their Toshiba Laptops as I do. Right out of the box it freezes up several times a day. The other problem is with the Hibernate mode, it is very unreliable and you can never rely on it shutting down properly. We are talking a NEW computer here.
Seems all the Toshibas at the stores have the Hibernation Mode disabled for this reason. Next time you see one, try to use the Hibernation Mode and see what happens.
Just wondering how many other people are having the same problems?.

My laptop was purchased 6 months ago, and now the computer fan comes on after a 5 minute use. (I use it a lot for my homework.) Is there anything I could do to help the fan out? Thanks.

In my house we have two computers, a desktop computer and a laptop. The desktop works fine, but the laptop is now having trouble connecting to our wireless network. It comes up but the password is now blank. We have linksys cable modem connected to a motorola router. The router connects to the computer. This has worked for over a year and stopped working today. Also, the connection was always very weak.

Is it just the software I am using which came with the computer - "Toshiba disk creator" - or is there an incompatibility between the two, such that anything copied on to DVD-R can be copied only to another DVD-R?

I have a hp dv1000 laptop with 1.4ghz celeron processor and 1.2 gb ram. It fell on the floor and the laptop screen wiring broke. I think it was the circuit on the hinge. The motherboard is still good and i know it will still load windows. But i'm taking out the hard drive because i got personal information on it. I'm planning to sell it on ebay with the software that it came with. I'm sure someone out there knows how to fix it and will want it. What do you think i should start the price?

The macbook is smaller screen (13 vs 15 inch). The Sony has fewer ghz (1.6) Macbook has 2 ghz. The new bootcamp patch from Mac allows the Mac to run XP (good for my small business stuff). Does anyone know if bootcamp will allow Microsoft's new 'Vista' operating system? I'm on a limited budget and this is a bigger purchase for me.

I was just curious as I don't know anything about computers. If I am working on something and the power shuts off (Re: Midwest after this week), does the computer back up what I've been working on up to the point the power shut off or would it only save if I manually saved it? This could be important..(finals week at a school in MI)

we found them in the trash and they do work but can't figure out how to bypass the sign on screen to use the F4 feature to try to reboot it as suggested in another answer. We only want to use it for the internet and don't care what else is on it. Can anyone suggest anything we can do? I have a 98, ME and XP OS disk I can install if I can get past this log on window. Office 2000 is what is currently running on this WinBook SI laptop. Thanks
