My laptop was purchased 6 months ago, and now the computer fan comes on after a 5 minute use. (I use it a lot for my homework.) Is there anything I could do to help the fan out? Thanks.

I sit it on top of 2 small boxes, which keeps the bottom about an inch from the surface of the desk. It's a big help in getting it to stay cool.

It is okay that the fan is coming on. Make sure it is getting proper venalation. Also it is good to use the can air on it once in a while to get all the dust out of the fan.

I had my lap top for about two year before I had to use the can air to clean it out. I should have done it sooner, I used it because my computer would shut down from being to hot because all the dust build up on the fan.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Do you actually use it as a laptop?, sitting right on your lap. If you do, some of the air holes on the bottom may be blocked by your legs. I found that my fan was coming on pretty quickly also and I bought one of those padded laptop desks that lays on your legs and my fan does not come on anywhere near as often.

everything said here is correct.
You may also look into a laptop cooler. It's basically a small shelf that keeps the base of your desk/lap.

Here's one I found : http://www.xpad4laptop.com/
