we found them in the trash and they do work but can't figure out how to bypass the sign on screen to use the F4 feature to try to reboot it as suggested in another answer. We only want to use it for the internet and don't care what else is on it. Can anyone suggest anything we can do? I have a 98, ME and XP OS disk I can install if I can get past this log on window. Office 2000 is what is currently running on this WinBook SI laptop. Thanks

Shut the computer down. The restart it when the system specifications screen comes up hit F8 not F4 and you will be able to go to safe mode where you can delete the passwords.

Reinstall Windows XP on the systems. You don't need to login to do this, just boot the PC from the Installation CD and follow the onscreen commands. Since the data on this device is "Found" and not yours then shouldn't be a problem. Plus then you will have a clean Operationg System.

Just in case you don't know how to boot off of CD here is a Link: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000217.htm

Turn on your computer and some how get to start up options - u do this by like clicking F12 or F10 depends on what it tells you when the manufacturer logo appears.

Select start up in "Safe Mode"

When the computer loads up in safe mode, you will see that there is a new user account called "Administrator". This will have no password but has limited features designed to fix problems.

Under safe mode administrator, go to Start >>> Control Panel>>> user accounts>>> and go to your account and REMOVE PASSWORD.

Then all you do is restart normally, log on to your account w/no password, and make a new one!!!

your best bet is to just wack your xp disk into the drive then change your boot settins in the bios to boot from the cd and get it to boot from there, when you restart your system it will boot from your cd and you can now install windows albeit a fresh install but thats what you wanted anyway.
