I would not bother unless your CPU is at least 500 MHz, and 256 MB of memory. Don't sink money into that old box, you can buy a new computer with WinXP installed for about $300.

If you do decide to install WinXP on that box, don't upgrade, wipe it and start fresh. Upgraded systems tend to have problems.

Why do you need a Win XP on the PC?

If you are having a Win 98 mean, it is a very old PC with low processing power, with little RAM.

Personally I will not recommend it, as it will slow down the machine by a lot, or not even work after reinstall with Win XP.

Get a new PC now, you might even get a free upgrade to Win Vista. :)

Yes, i've put it on a CPi PII 366Mgz and it is slow but steady. It even runs wireless through the USB port!

Also on a PIII 450 and 750 all Dell Latitudes.

I guess it should work, unless you have a very old motherboard.........but Windows XP is not going to give you good performance benefit as you have a very old computer
