Laptops & Notebooks - October 2006

I am trying to save some $$$. Certainly it would be better to buy a new one.

Anyway, I would like to buy a second hand notebook with a warranty. I would prefer buying an Apple, but would consider a PC.
Also, I would like the notebook to be no more than a few years old.

Perhaps you can provide a link to a site.

The black screen doesn't go away, and my computer lights still blink as if it's on. It only happens sometimes, and I was able to get rid of the screen if I closed my laptop forcefully. Now, nothing works. It's not really that big a deal, but it's bothersome since I always have to restart it whenever I wake up in the morning.

I have a Dell laptop, though .. I don't know anything else specific (my brother picked it out for me).

Ok so i have a dell xps laptop and its veryyy slow and it has alot of pop ups, and it freezes. My uncle said that it has alot of spyware on it and viruses. He told me to get a system recovery CD? I don't really know what that is. Where can i get one from? And will it help out with my problem?

My old laptop, a HP, has 802.11b wireless. Will an 802.11g wireless adapter work with the computer? I would like to know because I need a laptop with 802.11g network card to get wireless internet. My Mac has 802.11g network card, but I would like to take the HP.

The go 7800's numbers are all higher than the go 7900GS. Is there something else that makes the 7900GS better than the older version. Thanks much....

How come my laptop battery goes flat when it has been switched off for a few days? This doesn't happen to my mobile phone when that's switched off. Have I got a faulty battery?

I just fully chared my laptop but when I took out the adapter it shows 1:20 mins of battery remaining but if i restart it it will show the full 3 hours remaining...

I want to buy a sony laptop and misco have a good deal but i haven't heard of them and was wondering if anyone else had and if they had any problems. and my movies size are almost 730MB...whereas the cd's allow 700mb storage. Flash drives are pricy, external dvd writers are soo expensive. What can i do to reduce my movies size...
