The black screen doesn't go away, and my computer lights still blink as if it's on. It only happens sometimes, and I was able to get rid of the screen if I closed my laptop forcefully. Now, nothing works. It's not really that big a deal, but it's bothersome since I always have to restart it whenever I wake up in the morning.

I have a Dell laptop, though .. I don't know anything else specific (my brother picked it out for me).

Edit: I've done those things before, and nothing works. I try clicking my mouse, moving it around, pressing on the keys, pressing the on button, but nothing happens.

It usually goes on sleep mode and should "wake up" when you open it up or click the mouse. Maybe the manual can help you.

I have a dell Inspiron 1000 notebook and when it does that it's in stand by mode meaning it will go into a screen saver it's to keep the screen from wearing out from it being on continuously.
